1 Craig P. Alexander s Recommendations for Voters For the vember 6, 2012 Election For those of you who do not know me, I am an attorney and an evangelical Christian who is involved in local Orange County politics. I review candidates and initiatives on the ballot from a pro-life, pro-family, small government and less taxation point of view. Typically I will give commentary and recommendations on candidates for office where I have some information about. If you do not see a recommendation for an office or all of the offices up for election, this means I do not have a recommendation for that race. Because I am a Vice President of the California Republican Assembly I value its endorsements and list them here. I welcome your comments and questions about my choices. You may contact me at cpalexander@cox.net I will do my best to respond to your . There are two critical elections on the ballot this year for Californians. The first is for President of the United States. Obviously I urge you to vote for Governor Mitt Romney and Congressman Paul Ryan as President and Vice President. After four years of President Barack Obama it is patently obvious that: 1. President Obama has no intention of keeping his campaign promises and 2. He wants to turn America into a socialist country. The other item is Proposition 32 the Stop Special Interest Money w Act. As we all know public employee unions own and control Sacramento Democrats with a tight fist and corporations also yield unhealthy influence over politicians who are supposed to represent us the voters. If Prop. 32 passes, politicians will focus on what is best for the citizens instead of special interests. Here is what Prop. 32 will do if passed: 1. Make it unlawful for a union or corporation to contribute directly to a politician. Both will still have the freedom to express their opinions via independent expenditures (spending separate from the politician s campaign). 2. Make it unlawful for a union or a corporation to take money from their membersemployees paychecks and use that money for politics. But it keeps the membersemployees right to voluntarily contribute to the union or corporation s PAC (under current law those deductions are involuntary for the member/ employee). 3. Prohibit contractors who do business with a government entity from contributing to the politicians who approve their contracts (what is known as pay to play ). I should note that contrary to the commercials of the on Prop. 32 people there are no exceptions to the prohibition on campaign contributions by corporations none! exceptions! If we can pass Prop. 32 we will change for the better the nature of politics in Sacramento and all over our state for many years to come! Please vote Yes on Proposition 32 and tell all of your friends to do so too. 1
2 Federal: President Vice President Mitt Romney/Paul Ryan U.S. Senate Elizabeth Emken U.S. Congress 49 Darrell Issa 48 Dana Rohrabacher 46 Jerry Hayden 39 Ed Royce 47 John Campbell this is recommendation lite. I don t like Congressman Campbell s votes on such things as repealing Don t Ask, Don t Tell or TARP, but he is the lesser of two evils as the Democrat is worse on public policy issues. State State Senate: 37 Mimi Walters - Mimi is not only a great vote but she is a great leader in the State Senate 29 Bob Huff State Assembly: 73 Diane Harkey Diane is truly one of the best we have in Sacramento. She is a consummate conservative who keeps Governor Brown on his toes. We need her voice in Sacramento. 55 Curt Hagman 65 Chris rby 68 Don Wagner 72 Troy Edgar 74 Allan Mansoor City Councils: Craig s Recommended Candidate CRA Dana Point Carlos Olvera Ed Stevenson Laguna Niguel Jerry McCloskey 2
