5 The Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017 Invests $52.5 billion over the next decade, focused on fixing aging roads, highways and bridges, and invests more in transit. SB 1 benefits to Orange County: o Doubles transit and local streets and roads funding. o Helps stabilize STIP funding source. o Provides new revenue source for intercity and commuter rail. o Creates new grant programs to target congested corridors, goods movement, local planning and to incentivize self-help counties. o Provides additional funding for active transportation, transit capital grants and freeway service patrol. 5
6 OCTA SB 1 Projects OCTA applied for $200 million, and received $92.5 million SB 1 funding. SR-57 Truck Climbing Lane Phase 1 ($65.7 million): Will provide additional capacity and improve overall operations at the Lambert Road Interchange. Central Corridor Improvement Project ($19.9 million): Five hydrogen fuel cell buses for Bravo! route on Main Street. Traffic signal improvements. Four active transportation projects. Signal synchronization ($6.8 million): Will cover about half of cost of improving 217 intersections. Cities included: Aliso Viejo, Anaheim, Cypress, Garden Grove, Irvine, Laguna Hills, Lake Forest, Los Alamitos, Mission Viejo, Orange, Rancho Santa Margarita, Santa Ana, Stanton, Villa Park and Westminster. 6
