Attached is a flyer for the event. The California Commission on Disability Access will hold a meeting on Monday, October 19 in the State Capitol, room 4202 from 9:30 a.m. 2:00 p.m. Attached is the meeting notice and agenda. Paul H. 2 October 5-7, 2009 Pasadena Convention Center Green Solutions for Tough Economic Times Community colleges are a focal point for statewide efforts to create a green economy and workforce in California. The energy and inter - est surrounding the emerging green economy provides community colleges with a unprecedented opportunities to enrich the communities they serve. COMMUNITY COLLEGE SUMMIT Building Gateways to the Green Economy A Green Technology Event The Summit has been designed to respond to these trends by creating a forum for essential topics such as: *Attaining savings from building and running green campuses. *Development of green curriculum. * Using green programs for teaching and apprenticeships. * Campuses as models of sustainable practices for their community. * Helping students capture green employment opportunities. This two-day event will take place from October 6-7, 2009 at the newly-renovated Pasadena Convention Center. Pre-Summit workshops will be held from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm on Monday, October 5th. Matters raised at this time may be briefly discussed by the Commission and/or placed on a subsequent agenda. 11) Adjourn The CCDA meeting is operating under the requirements of the Bagley-Keene Open Meeting Act set forth in Govt. Code Section The Act generally requires the CCDA to publicly notice their meetings, prepare agendas, accept public testimony, and conduct their meeting in public unless specifically authorized by the Act to meet in closed session. Meetings are subject to cancellation; agenda items are subject to removal or items may be taken out of order. The Commission meets under authority of Government Code The Commission may hold a closed session on pending or proposed litigation involving the Commission [Govt. Code 11126(e)] and personnel matters and performance review relating to the Commission [Govt. Code 11126(a)]. The meeting facilities and restrooms are accessible to individuals with disabilities. Requests for accommodations for individuals with disabilities (assistive listening device, sign language interpreters, etc.) should be made to the Commission office no later than 10 working days prior to the day of the meeting. 5 THE CALIFORNIA COMMISSION ON DISABILITY ACCESS MAILING LIST REQUEST The California Commission on Disability Access (CCDA) was created through the enactment of Senate Bill 1608 (Chapter 549, Statutes of 2008) whose role is that of an independent 17 member advisory body representing the Legislature and the business and disabled communities. The CCDA efforts are intended to facilitate business compliance with applicable disabled access laws, building standards and regulations, and most importantly, to reduce and, if possible, avoid unnecessary litigation. The CCDA role is diverse, and includes being an information center for the status of compliance with disabled access law and regulations; providing proposals and recommendations to the Legislature regarding legislation; conduct and publish studies relative to specific problem areas and develop recommendations, and report on the effectiveness of the CCDA efforts; and is tasked with the development of a master checklist for disability access for proposed use by enforcement officials and design professionals.
