1 Regular Meeting of the School Board Independent School District 88 New Ulm, Minnesota A regular meeting of the Independent School District 88 School Board, New Ulm, Minnesota was held on Thursday, September 22, 2016, in the District Boardroom. Members present: Matt Ringhofer, Melissa Sunderman, Denny Waloch, Duane Winter, Christie Dewanz, Steve Gag, and Patti Hoffman. Also present: Superintendent Jeff Bertrang and Business Manager Myrna Meunier. Press: Connor Cummiskey and Michael Koob. The meeting was called to order by Chair Duane Winter at 6:00 p.m. Agenda Motion by Christie Dewanz, second by Melissa Sunderman, to approve the agenda with the Supplement/Addendum. (Approved 7-0) Minutes Motion by Steve Gag, second by Denny Waloch, to approve the minutes for the regular school board meeting held on August 25, 2016 and study session held on September 8, 2016 as presented. Action Business Services Bills for Audit and Budget Report Motion by Denny Waloch, second by Matt Ringhofer, to approve the bills for audit as presented in the total amount of $5,738, and accept the board budget report as presented. (Approved 7-0) Cash Balance Report The cash balance report for June 2016 was accepted by the board and will be filed for audit.

3 Designation of Identified Official with Authority for the MDE External User Access Recertification System Member Christie Dewanz introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION TO DESIGNATE IDENTIFIED OFFICIAL WITH AUTHORITY FOR THE MDE EXTERNAL USER ACCESS RECERTIFICATION SYSTEM The Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) requires that school districts, charter schools or other organizations annually designate an Identified Official with Authority to comply with State Access Control Security Standard 1.0 which states that all user access rights to Minnesota state systems must be reviewed and recertified at least annually. The Identified Official with Authority will assign job duties and authorize external user s access to MDE secure systems for their local education agency (LEA) or organization. The Superintendent recommends the Board authorize Jeff Bertrang to act as the Identified Official with Authority for New Ulm Public Schools. The motion for the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Member Patti Hoffman, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Christie Dewanz, Steve Gag, Patti Hoffman, Matt Ringhofer, Melissa Sunderman, Denny Waloch, and Duane Winter; the following voted against the same: none; whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted. 5 Preliminary Levy Certification for Taxes Payable Motion by Patti Hoffman, second by Denny Waloch, to approve the proposed 2016, payable 2017 levy certification at the maximum amount of approximately $7,920, This is a.18% decrease. (Approved 7-0) Community Education Funding Motion by Christie Dewanz, second by Matt Ringhofer, to approve the final 20% payment to Network New Ulm Youth in the amount of $ to finalize the grant for (Approved 7-0) Motion by Patti Hoffman, second by Christie Dewanz, to approve the grant request from CAST of $4,800 for the school with the final 20% ($1,200) after the final review and recommendation of the Advisory Council at the end of the year for a total of $6,000 for the grant. (Approved 7-0) Board Member Resignation Motion by Matt Ringhofer, second by Patti Hoffman, to accept the resignation of Patti Hoffman effective September 22, Next Meeting The study session will be held on Thursday, October 13, 2016 at 5:00 p.m. in the District Conference Room and the next regular school board meeting will be held on Thursday, October 27, 2016, at 6:00 p.m. in the District Boardroom, 414 South Payne Street.
