OFFICIAL REPORTS a. Executive Reports Ten (10) Minutes Each i. President Hopp- I m looking forward to attending GA. Thank you to everyone from LEAC for helping with Resolutions. I urge everyone to participate in Giving Tuesday. This is a very important event for our Foundation and we definitely want to make a good impression.
4 Thank you to Dalton and Nick for running for Senator. It takes a lot of courage to stand up. Don t be deterred, positions will always open up. Scott Returns 1:26pm Kott Returns 1:30pm ii. Vice President Bancroft- I just wanted to remind everyone to get ready to apply for scholarships next semester. Please apply for the Palomar Scholarships. Also thank you to everyone who helped create the camera for the polls. They looked professional and well done. Finally please do not use our title as Senator when trying to gain personal influence. You cannot speak on behalf of the ASG and cannot use your title in such a way. b. Senator Reports Four (4) Minutes Each i. Contreras This last weekends I attended the HACU conference along with Pham and received input from various presenters regarding work application tips, the current political climate and the latino population, and information as to how to become the best persons we can be. I talked earlier today with David William regarding the furniture the ASG requested. I will be sending the images later throughout the week to point out which items would be best suited for the offices. I also met with the FRC committee, we discussed the wall mural permission for the S.E.A.L. center mentioned la few weeks ago.we only voted on the concept itself in the FRC as there s various parts to this project that have to be approved by different departments, such as the materials used for the mural, up keeping it, and making policies to safely deal with these pieces of art as Palomar currently has no set policy for it. There has also been a large food insecurity in campuses, Palomar being one of them. There was a recent donation by Anita and Stan Maug for $400,000 dollars. The new installation of the food bank, which will be renamed Food & Nutrition Center, will be replacing the current staff lounge in SU-40. We also have new pods for breastfeeding. The first one is located in the cafeteria area in the San Marcos Campus. The second one is located in the Escondido TLC building. They are looking forward to approve and add signage to bathrooms amongst the schools to inform students about these pods. At last we have Prop M updates. The South Ed center is putting in a lot of work. The parking structure will be finished in January, solving our parking problems. They will also have the elevators in the parking lot finished by December along with trees and plants decorating the parking structures outside. Staff parking will be added too. The MNO building is being roofed and its interior walls are being framed. North Ed. Is grating right now.
5 Temporary Point of Privilege Garcia 1:31pm Garcia Returns 1:34 ii. Kramer No Report Permanent Point of Privilege Saucedo 1:35pm iii. Smith - Attended a LEAC meeting yesterday and actually got to talk about the resolutions (?) we will bring up at GA. I m looking forward to all the events coming up, from GA to Diversity Day and Stock the Bank event and more! Thank you all for being so awesome to work with. Shoutout to Nayeli for working hard with the videos to promote Diversity Day and in general, all the work you re doing. iv. Williamson This week I attended the Tutor Committee, CWA and PPER. The Tutor Committee has developed some long term and short term goals within the last two meetings. One long term goal is trying to find more funding, and a more short term goal is putting in research requests to determine the effectiveness of various tutoring resources. In PPER we are working on rewriting the constitution, and in CWA we discussed finals events. v. Pham I will attend region meeting today and there will be elections for region positions, I encourage everyone who are interested to come to the meeting. I look forward to coming events: Diversity Day, GA. vi. Vasquez I want to say thank you to Judah, Angela, and Xiomara for being in the videos that I recorded to promote the Diversity Event and Comet Hour. Also, Safety Committee meeting was cancelled this Wednesday, so I don t have a report from that committee. vii. Scott Sent backgrounds for glass panel and completed map to printing through Marilyn. Reviewed GA resolutions and distinguished which would be seen as most controversial among the board. Discussed general feelings toward these in LEAC. Permanent Point of Privilege Hopp 1:39pm Permanent Point of Privlege Scott 1:39pm viii. Watt- Finished the Delegate Responsibilities packet, Read over the final GA Resolutions for LEAC. Additionally, met with PPER earlier this morning. Met with no shared governance committees this week. ix. Wilcox - Strategic enrollment management met this week, and we are pairing down the goals before we make a plan next month. I asked for a poll about counselors and how students use it, so I can bring it to SEM and say we need more counselors. x. Rogers No Report xi. Ohrin No Report xii. El my committee did not meet this week but next week I could
6 bring the camera issue to sspc. Thank you to whoever dropped off shirts xiii. Peredia No report xiv. Vallone Hello. Thank you for approving me as senator. I attended a Policies & Procedures committee meeting this morning. After the second reading, recommended changes to BP s and AP s were approved, including BP 2015 dealing with the student trustee.. There was a first reading of BP s and AP s for chapter 7, but there did not appear to be revisions that would be of concern to the ASG. c. Delegate Reports- Four (4) Minutes Each i. Nagtalon No Report ii. Garcia - No shared governance meeting for this week. As for the community garden, I will send out a poll later today to see when we can all meet to get a vision of what we would like to see for this campus and how we can get started. Anyone who wants to join, just send me an and I m sure we would appreciate all the help we can get! iii. Saucedo No Report iv. Mullinax- No Report v. Foroughishafiei- No Report d. Advisor Reports Seven (7) Minutes Each i. Kott- Halloween Escape was a huge success! Thank you to our clubs and leadership who did a fantastic job with this from start to end! We are having some #MicrowaveProbs, but happy to see that you approved a budget for more microwaves. Marilyn is working on getting these ordered! Regarding events, remember to fill out all event paperwork (ex: Use of Facilities Forms) when planning your programs/ events. STOCK THE BANK on Nov 8! We need volunteers. Thank you to Angela and Nick for already signing up to volunteer. Sign up on the link in your . VETERANS DAY CEREMONY Nov 9 - come support! On another note, I loved seeing the videos you all made and posted on Instagram to highlight Diversity Day! Hello, I m YOUR ASG Senator! You are repping your students well!! Awesome job! This is a good example of how to highlight your role to the campus. Remember, it is an honor and privilege to be a senator. This means you need to carry that role with integrity -
7 hear all students, invite and include everyone, and not misuse your standing as a senator. Specifically, when naming your role as a Senator, I might advise that you do so when seeking info for students or advocating on behalf of other students - not when advancing your own agenda. I think a really positive example of when this was done really well is when our very own Ms. Vice President went to extra length to make sure that her role as VP would not be misused or abused when the chemistry club was asking for money for their club. AS a member of the club, our VP was very careful to ensure that she wasn t jumping the line or abusing her power in a way to advance her own agenda. Instead she worked with other members of the business club to ask for money, for a professional purpose, and ensured that all students would have access to those same opportunities if they joined that club. She didn t say, hey I m the VP of ASG and I want to get this conference membership paid so I m gunna tell ASG to vote yes. Instead, she thought carefully about presenting an idea that was brought to her that would benefit all students. Remember, just because you re a senator doesn t mean you get special permission. It does mean you are an incredible rockstar and awesome human in my book ;) YOU ARE ALL FABULOUS and I m so happy to see so many of you living up to the expectation and honor of the roles of delegates and senators. Gonzalez- No Report ii. Permanent Point of Privilege 1:52pm iii. Titus- Sorry I missed last week s meeting - competing requirements! There are so many great things happening on campus - keep up the good work. We will close down the staff lounge at the end of fall semester in an effort to begin the remodel of the new Maag Center. South and North Center s are moving along as well as continued success at the Escondido Center. Halloween Escape - well done. Congratulations to all that are helping in the Food Bank - I believe we are seeing an increase in usage. Continue to serve your fellow students if you are available on Thursday s. The lactation PODS are available - working toward a Breastfeeding Friendly Campus. We are working on informational breastfeeding/ lactation/ pumping signage for the women s and single use (Gender Neutral) restrooms. PRP s are due on November 16 - please let me know what you would like to have included, especially your goals and achievements, as part of the District program review and planning process. Pay attention to deadlines, submit paperwork on time, including transfer
8 plans, timelines for ASG renewal and remember GA travel is just around the corner. Remember that Friday November 10, is a school holiday and ASG will travel the following weekend. Side note: Vista Print has reduced pricing on banners. Thank you all for being you! Motion : Extend Time to 2:30 (Wilcox, Watt, C/U) 1:57pm e. Committee Reports- Four (4) Minutes Each i. ICC We discussed Diversity Day and the members were excited and looking forward to it. No new discussion. They were also told that the Bylaw suggestions from ICC were turned in to the ASG for revision. We set points for Stock the Bank event happening on November 8. ICC Group Photo will be taken next meeting to include all the other members that were not present for the first one. Halloween Escape event was a huge success, I personally thank Blue, Michael, and the ASG members participating as it is the biggest festivity we have as the ICC. ii. PPER We have been working on the potential draft constitution for the next election cycle. We will be bring it up for discussion at the next ASG meeting and would love input in advance. iii. LEAC Reviewed all resolutions and came to a consensus regarding most controversial ones. Gave president list of resolutions and corresponding amendments with our attached notes and consensus to each. Delegated or discussed all upcoming legislative events and what each member's role could be. iv. CWA - In CWA last Friday we discussed planning a finals event. Xiamara and Mike were appointed as co-chairs, and we brainstormed some ideas such mental health resource awareness, de-stressing activities and therapy dogs. The name and exact dates of the event are yet to be determined. 11. ADJOURNMENT - 2:04
