The initiative brings together health care, law enforcement, substance abuse treatment and prevention partners to work on a solution. As we begin the initiative we need everyone in our community to to ask themselves What s in our medicine cabinet? From old prescriptions to over-the-counter pain relievers-this epidemic has teens and young adults raiding medicine cabinets of friends and relatives, for painkillers and other prescriptions as a means to get high. Lock it up: Discuss: Disposal: With the pressures from school, friends. And easy accessibility to prescription and over-the counter medication, teens may become curious and start abusing what s around the house. To ensure your teen doesn t get into trouble with prescriptions, lock the medicine cabinet or keep medications in a secure place like a medicine lock box. Drug abuse of any kind is a parent s worst nightmare. To help avoid potential drug abuse, communication is essential. It is imperative parents discuss the dangers of abusing prescriptions with their teen. The more open the conversation, the more likely they will be honest about the things they are doing and any curiosities they might have about painkillers, prescriptions and other drugs. When old or expired prescriptions and medicine are no longer being used, it is important to properly dispose of them. Don t flush leftover medication down the toilet. There are now many locations where you can drop off your unused or expired medications at a permanent prescription drug drop off. Room BE 4 10:00 am to 12:00 pm PUBLIC NOTICE CITY OF WINSLOW MAY 15, 2018 GENERAL ELECTION Notice is hereby given that the City Council has set May 15, 2018 as the time for holding a General Election in the City of Winslow for the purpose of allowing voters to elect a mayor and three (3) councilmembers. Sample ballots for the election are available on request at the Office of the City Clerk. This election will be conducted by a mail ballot wherein all registered voters will be sent a ballot via U.S. Mail. A postage paid envelope will be provided to return the ballot to the Navajo County Recorder s Office. If you do not want to mail your ballot, you can drop it in the drop box located in the City Clerk s Office at City Hall or at the drive-up box located at 619 East Third Street. If you are not currently registered to vote, the last day to register is April 16, Voter registration forms are available at City Hall and the Library.
