4 BRIAN S. RODGERS Governor Alabama District of Kiwanis International Welcome to the Annual Alabama District Convention of Kiwanis International s. I am so glad that you are joining us to celebrate this historic time in our organization s history. For 100 years Kiwanis has made a difference in the lives of children in the communities we live in, throughout our country and the world. Whether it is through early childhood literacy, supporting our local Children's Hospital of Alabama, supporting athletic programs, building and renovating safe places to play, or saving mothers and babies throughout the world from preventable deaths, we are united in making tomorrow a brighter day for the children we serve. I am so grateful for the dedicated Kiwanis members here in Tuscaloosa who have worked diligently to make this a memorable experience for you. I hope you leave reinvigorated and return to your home clubs with ideas to increase the impact in your communities. We stand on the shoulders of great men and women who have left us a bright legacy. I am glad that you are joining me on this journey as we pave a path into the next century of serving the children of the world. I will leave you with a challenge. We cannot do this alone. We need you to be our ambassadors in your home communities. Love It, Live It and Share It with others so we can welcome new members to join us as we boldly go into the next century. I promise they will have ideas and energies that will inspire us all. Before October 1, I would love for each club in our District to add 5 more members to your rosters. Together we can once again prove to the world that Kiwanis is as relevant as ever, as the needs are even greater. Enjoy this weekend and thank you for your service! 3
