3 Region Meetings Friday, October 19 1:00 PM 3:45 PM AMCA is now organized into three separate legal entities. AMCA International operates out of Chicago with 10 people serving all regions, and 14 serving the Americas exclusively. Asia AMCA has its own board and 7 employees. The AMCA International board controls Asia AMCA strategic boundaries and selects their leadership, but other decisions are made locally to serve the expressed needs of Asian members. The Europe Air Movement and Control Association is our latest expansion. Like Asia, it has its own board and will make decisions that serve members who sell into the European market. The Middle East draws from all three regions. AMCA s regional strategy will be discussed in the All Regions meeting, and then members will break into separate regional meetings to discuss local needs. Air Curtain Engineering Committee Friday, October 19 1:00 PM 3:45 PM The Air Curtain Engineering Committee is working on the development of an air curtain method of test standard to measure the effectiveness of air curtain units and creating a comprehensive plan to market air curtains that will include their energy savings and cost effectiveness. AMCA Engineering Standards Committee Friday, October 19 4:00 PM 5:00 PM This committee is responsible for reviewing all standards which embrace the scope of more than one division and works with staff in preparing and conducting AMCA s Engineering Conferences and Technical Seminars. The committee meets at least once annually; at Midyear or Annual Meeting. Industrial Process/Power Generation Market Group Friday, October 19 4:00 PM 5:00 PM This committee is interested in and has the responsibility for promoting and educating specifiers, the public, and contractors for the industrial fan industry, including power generation fans for power plants. Marketing Committee Friday, October 19 4:00 PM 5:00 PM The Marketing Committee is responsible for the public relations, marketing and advertising activities of the association. The committee seeks input from the Sales and Marketing Executives Council and AMCA market groups in the identification of publicity needs. The committee works closely with the Board of Directors and AMCA staff in the development of the marketing budget and fulfillment of the AMCA Strategic plan. Air Control Division Sunday, October 21 8:00 AM 9:30 AM The Air Control Division oversees all issues related to air control products. They are responsible for approving new and revised publications, standards, and certified ratings programs for products that fall under the air control product scope. This committee meets at the midyear and annual meetings to review and discuss current issues, the work progressing in technical committees, and code and energy initiatives. Air Movement Division Sunday, October 21 9:45 AM 11:15 AM The Air Movement Division oversees all issues related to air movement products. They are responsible for approving new and revised publications, standards, and certified ratings programs for products that fall under the air movement product scope. This committee meets at the midyear and annual meetings to review and discuss current issues, the work progressing in technical committees, and code and energy initiatives. General Session Monday, October 22 8:00 AM 11:30 AM Reports from the President, Executive Director, Regions, and Divisions will be delivered. AMCA s budget is up from $4.5 to $5.5 million this year progress against this aggressive growth goal will be discussed. The Nominating Committee will present its recommendations for new board members. Board officers and new board members will be elected. And we will preview the 2013 Annual Meeting location. 3

4 Seminar 3: Lean Forward Off Balance On Purpose Dan Thurmon Monday, October 22 10:30 AM - 11:30 AM Dan Thurmon is the author of two books, a renowned speaker, and a recognized expert in delivering peak performances on stage and in the workplace. Dan began his performance career at eleven years old, crafting a one-man-show incorporating comedy, juggling and acrobatics. This enabled him to, at a very early age, develop a strong work ethic and learn fundamental lessons about performance excellence. Dan graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in Marketing and Management. He has also extensively studied Personal Development and developed a unique methodology he teaches to audiences and clients. A recent inductee to prestigious Speakers Hall of Fame, Dan Thurmon delivers experiences that go beyond motivation, teaching concepts and skills in a highly engaging and entertaining manner. He incorporates his lifelong performance skills to create high impact events. The fear and uncertainty about the global markets are enough to cause any business leader to wonder if the recovery is durable or not. Brian Beaulieu, the CEO of ITR will be presenting the economic outlook for our industry and for the global economy with the clarity that business leaders have come to expect from ITR. Attendees will have no doubt as to the duration of the recovery. They will learn how long the good news will last, the dangers from coming inflationary pressures, what to expect from interest rate movement, the impact of the Super Committee, and what strategies and tactics should be undertaken now if businesses are to maximize their profit potential in the years to come. This is a must meeting for leaders looking to prepare for the changes that are coming over the next few years. 4

His technique is fun, and professionally rewarding for those who practice it. Wade Smith, our Executive Director uses lateral thinking often, and has had the occasion to teach DeBono s work to several groups over the years. There is no doubt that you will find this session enlightening, and fun for all (spouses and guests are welcome). If you want to study up in advance of the meeting, read Dr. DeBono s book Six Thinking Hats, which discusses one very practical application of lateral thinking. If you wish to explore Dr. DeBono s intellectual arguments supporting his theory, try the book Lateral Thinking. 5
