Student of the Month: Arizona Middle School is delighted to honor Sierra Senio as Alvord Unified School District s Student of the Month for March Sierra is a model ASB student representative, an excellent student and she excels in sports. Sierra assisted with the Distinguished School visit and is always ready to help where needed. Sierra always has a smile on her face and a positive attitude making her a joy to be around. It is a great pleasure to honor Sierra Senio as the Alvord Unified School District Student of the Month for March b. Certificated Employee of the Month: Arizona Middle School is proud to recognize Mrs. Sherri Duckworth-Kemp as the Alvord Unified School District Certificated Employee of the Month for March Mrs. Kemp is an exemplary classroom teacher who wears many hats on campus. She is the Projects person assisting with CELDT, STAR writing and the administration of the STAR CST exams. In addition to these responsibilities, she is also the History Department Chair. Her assistance in writing the application for the California Distinguished School application was invaluable, as was her participation in the Distinguished School visit on February 18 th. Mrs. Kemp is always willing to assist staff and administration where needed. It is a great pleasure to honor Mrs. Sherri Duckworth-Kemp as the Alvord Unified School District Certificated Employee of the Month for March c. Classified Employee of the Month: Arizona Middle School is proud to recognize Ms. Ramona Pérez as the Alvord Unified School District Classified Employee of the Month for March Ms. Pérez arrives each morning with a smile on her face and welcomes the students to class. As the morning campus supervisor, she is instrumental in getting students into class between passing periods, delivering items to class and monitoring the hallways during classes. Regardless of the weather, Ramona can always be found outside, monitoring the campus. Her calm and compassionate manner in dealing with all staff and students has earned her the respect of everyone. It is a great pleasure to honor Ms. Ramona Pérez as the Alvord Unified School District Classified Employee of the Month for March 2009.

Volunteer of the Month: Arizona Middle School is proud to recognize Mrs. Maria Dulaney as the Alvord Unified School District Volunteer of the Month for March As a PTSA Board member, she attends all meetings, helps to plan fundraisers, and comes up with great ideas for future events. Mrs. Dulaney was instrumental in planning for the carnival which was held during lunch periods and after school. She put together a Christmas Shoppe for the students and was here every morning before school, during all three lunches and after school to help monitor it. She donates many hours to Arizona, even though she also works at Loma Vista Middle School as a Bilingual Assistant. It is a great pleasure to honor Mrs. Maria Dulaney as the Alvord Unified School District Volunteer of the Month for March e. Alvord Educational Foundation: Carmelle Marshall, President, will introduce Stephan Dark, of Boeing, who will present the Alvord Educational Foundation with a check for $5, for Norte Vista High School s International Baccalaureate Program. 4 AUSD Agenda Message Meeting of March 5, Board of Education/Superintendent CSBA Delegate Assembly Election Subregion 18-A: The Board may vote for up to six candidates for CSBA s Delegate Assembly. Instructional Support Services 7. Approve Revised Local Educational Agency Plan: Board approval is requested for the revised Local Education Agency Plan. The No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act of 2001, Section 116(c)(7)(A), requires that Local Education Agencies (LEAs) identified for Program Improvement Year 3 participate in a District Assistance and Intervention Team (DAIT) process to revise their Local Education Agency Plan. The District Assistance and Intervention Team and District staff will provide an overview of the revision process and key recommendations. Personnel Services 8. Adopt Resolution No. 32 Reduce or Eliminate Particular Kinds of Service: Board approval is requested for adoption of Resolution No. 32 to reduce or eliminate particular kinds of service pursuant to Education Code Education Code Section requires that a certificated employee be notified on or before March 15 if he/she may be released from his/her position. Fiscal Impact: Potential Savings of $11,184, (Various Funds) 9. Adopt Resolution No. 33 Certificated Non-Reelections: Board approval is requested for adoption of Resolution No. 33 Certificated Non-Reelections. Education Code Section requires that the Governing Board approve the decision not to reelect identified certificated probationary employees for the succeeding school year. Fiscal Impact: Unknown at this time

5 AUSD Agenda Message Meeting of March 5, Adopt Resolution No. 34 Intent to Implement Budget Adjustments in Non-Personnel Programs: Board approval for adoption of Resolution No. 34 is requested. This resolution may minimize the final impact of the March 15 notices and be used to further determine classified positions that may be affected by a reduction in force. Fiscal Impact: Unknown at this time 11. Adopt Resolution No. 35 Release and Reassignment of Certificated Administrators: Board approval is requested for adoption of Resolution No. 35 Release and Reassignment of Certificated Administrators pursuant to Education Code Education Code Section stated that certificated administrative employees may be released from their current positions and reassigned to a classroom or other administrative position for the succeeding school year. Fiscal Impact: Potential Savings of $483, (Various Funds) 12. CONDUCT PUBLIC HEARING California Schools Employee Association (CSEA) , and Proposed Collective Bargaining Agreement 13. Ratify California Schools Employee Association (CSEA) , and Proposed Collective Bargaining Agreement: Board ratification is requested for the , and proposed Collective Bargaining Agreement with California Schools Employee Association. Approve Overnight Trip to the Future Farmers of America (FFA) Fresno Judging Field Day and State FFA Convention La Sierra and Norte Vista High Schools: Board approval is requested for twenty-three students and four chaperones from La Sierra and Norte Vista high schools to attend the Fresno Judging Field Day and State FFA Convention on April 15-21, 2009, at the Fresno Convention Center in Fresno, California. Fiscal Impact: $10, (General Fund/Restricted-Agriculture Incentive Grant) La Sierra High School: $2, Norte Vista High School: $8, e. Adopt Proposed Revisions to Article 5 (Series 5000) Board Policies and Administrative Regulations Entitled Students : Board approval is requested for the adoption of proposed revisions to Article 5 (Series 5000) Board Polices and Administrative Regulations entitled Students. f. Approve Riverside County Superintendent of Schools Contract No. C : Board approval is requested for an Agreement of Participation between Riverside, Inyo, Mono, San Bernardino Counties Beginning Teachers Support and Assistance and Alvord Unified School District from July 1, 2008 through June 30, Fiscal Impact: $113, (Revenue from Riverside County Office of Education) g. Ratify Professional Services Agreement Lindamood-Bell Learning Processes: Board ratification is requested for a professional services agreement between the Lindamood-Bell Learning Processes and Alvord Unified School District to provide assessment, therapy and instructional services from February 23, 2009 through June 30, Fiscal Impact: $61, (General Fund/Restricted Special Education) h.
