4 4 N PROVINCIAL GAZETTE EXTRAORDINARY, 2 JANUARY 2008 N.2 2 January 2008 PROVINCE OF THE EASTERN CAPE OFFICE OF THE PREMIER REMUNERATION OF PUBLIC OFFICE BEARERS ACT, 1998 (ACT NO.20 OF 1998): DETERMINATION OF SALARIES AND ALLOWANCES OF MEMBERS OF THE EXECUTIVE COUNCIL AND MEMBERS OF THE PROVINCIAL-LEGISLATURE I, Nsim Balindlela, Premier f the Prvince fthe Eastern Cape, acting in terms f sectin 6(3) fthe Remuneratin fpublic Office Bearers Act, 1998 (Act N.20 f 1998) (hereinafter referred t as the "Act"), having regard t Presidential Prclamatin N.35 cntained in Gaette N f 21 Nvember 2007, hereby determine that- (1) the annual salaries and allwances fthe varius grades f ffice bearers mentined in Clumn 1 fschedule 1 shall be as set ut in Clumns 2, 3 and 4 f Schedule 1 with effect frm 01 April 2007, subject t sectin 6(7) t (9) fthe Act; (2) Clumn 4 f Schedule 1 (Ntch 3) applies t a re-elected member wh at any time has ccupied his r her current ffice, r an ffice in the same r a higher grade accrding t Clumn 1 fschedule 1 fr a perid fat least 24 mnths in ttal, whether befre r after 14 April (3) Clumn 3 fschedule 1 (Ntch2) applies t all re-elected members ther than thse referred t in paragraph (2). \Vhen are-elected member t whm Clumn 3 applies has held his r her current ffice, r an ffice in the same r a higher grade accrding t Clumn 1, fr a perid f24 mnths in ttal, Clumn 4 fschedule1 (Ntch 3) becmes applicable t that member;
