1 California Jaycee Senate January 2016 The Forty Niner President s message from Senate President Dana Dunn Happy New Year to all my Senate friends! I hope you all had a great holiday season and are ready for We are looking forward to our February meeting in Buena Park on February 19th through the 21st. We will be meeting with the Jaycees this time. Thank you to Sandy McManus, Jeanne Vanderhyde and Gina Kortz for arranging this meeting with Erika Palafox. The information is going out in an e-blast and will be on the website soon. Dave Acoba is working diligently to get our new website up and running. Our meeting in Selma in November was a great success. We started with Friday night dinner at the Cattleman s restaurant. We welcomed a new Senator, Tim Harper, #74578 at our breakfast membership meeting. Thanks to Elizabeth McInnis for hosting the hospitality room. Some of us enjoyed Saturday dinner at Sal s, a Mexican restaurant hidden in a residential neighborhood. On December 5th, Denise and Greg Lyons-Conrad hosted our northern holiday party at their home in Vallejo. Denise outdid herself with the food and libations and a wonderful time was had by all who attended. Many thanks to Denise and Greg. Also, many thanks go to Tess and Clarence Alvey, who hosted our southern holiday party at their home in Fountain Valley on December 19th. It was also a fun and fabulous party. Beth Fujishige led us in a rousing game and there was way too much food and mulled wine. It was good to see Terry Couture, who has moved to Florida. Also, Edith and Kevin Alson attended. Our National Winter BOD meeting was held in Savannah, GA on January 8th through the 10th. Doug Meyers, Denise Lyons-Conrad, Joe A and Margaret Souza, Beth Fujishige and myself were in attendance. Also, a surprise attendee was Craig Valine, who promised to try and see us in Buena Park. Savannah is a lovely city and we all enjoyed the southern hospitality. We would love to see you in Buena Park and mark you calendars for May 20th through 22nd for our year end Convention in Sacramento. Please keep in touch! 2 Happy New Year to everyone, where did 2015 go, time just continues to fly. Thank you to all that attended the Northern California Christmas Party at our house, I think everyone had a good time, I was however hoping for a more spirited gift exchange; there just wasn t much stealing going on. In this newsletter is a notice that will be voted on at the February Meeting. The purpose of the change is to get our organization in good standing with the federal and state governments. We will first be posting a DBA notice, register with the California Secretary of State as an Incorporated Non-Profit. As always please pre-register for the February Meeting, looking forward to seeing you all in Southern California. Denise LyonsConrad #53219 Treasurer Report Greetings on a rainy January day! We had a great time in Selma and at the Christmas parties. What s next? The Senate Ski Lodge in Buena Park. Hey, if Disney can have spaceships and pirates in Anaheim, we can have a ski lodge in Buena Park. I have a nice bottle of peppermint schnapps that will be very tasty in hot coffee or chocolate. For those who don t plan to brave the Matterhorn, we will have cards and other games in our nice warm suite. Join us February at the Buena Park Courtyard. Rumor has it that Jaycees will be present, we ll see if there is a sighting. Friday dinner is still being arranged, but you all know I love a good meal, so plan on it being someplace tasty. The year is more than half over, so recruiting for Senate offices for is underway. Early volunteers will have a choice of positions. Cheers, Elizabeth

3 J.C.I. SENATORS OF CALIFORNIA BY-LAWS CALIFORNIA JCI SENATE BY-LAWS ARTICLE I ORGANIZATION NAME Section 1. The name of this organization shall be J.C.I. Senators of California, the California JCI Senate, herein after referred to as the "organization", and shall be incorporated as a non-profit corporation. ARTICLE II MEMBERSHIP QUALIFICATIONS Section 1. DUES Section 4. (a) Any individual who shall have been duly elected to membership in the J.C.I. Senate according to the J.C.I. constitution is eligible to become a member of the J.C.I. Senators of California. organization The membership dues shall be $30.00 annually, payable in advance, and shall be due on June 1. (b) EXPULSION Section 5. Lifetime dues of $ payable once shall be acceptable as satisfying California JCI Senate Lifetime Dues. Any member of the J.C.I. Senators of California California JCI Senate whose membership as a Senator has been revoked according to the J.C.I. constitution shall automatically be excluded from membership in the "organization".

4 Section 4 For purposes of record, the Articles of incorporation of the organization were recorded on xxxxxxxxxxxxx in the records of incorporation, Office of the Secretary of State, XXXXX, under the following name: California JCI Senate. ARTICLE II ASSOCIATION Section 1 This Corporation shall not be affiliated with any duly constituted Jaycee organization. Section 2 This Corporation will endeavor to associate itself with all national and international JCI Senate groups. Section 3 Any reference to "JCI" herein shall include by definition Junior Chamber International. Section 4 Any reference to "Jaycees" herein shall include by definition JCI California. ARTICLE III PURPOSES Section 1 The principle purposes of this Corporation shall be: To encourage local Jaycee chapters to nominate deserving past and present Jaycees for membership in the JCI Senate. To promote fellowship among JCI Senators. To meet locally as individuals or groups, to provide a means for retaining and expanding friendships, and exchanging ideas and information. To maintain contact with the Junior Chamber International movement by periodically inviting state, Jaycees to address the Corporation. To financially aid the United States JCI Senate and JCI California through their respective foundations. To foster better understanding and goodwill through international relations activities. To provide educational and training advisors to JCI California and its local organization members. Section 2 Other purposes may from time to time be approved by a majority of the Senators present at a duly convened meeting. Section 3 This Corporation shall be non partisan, non sectarian, and non profit in its purposes and activities. Section 4 This Corporation shall wholly abstain from any political affiliation or the endorsement of any candidates for public office.

5 Section 5 This Corporation shall maintain a role of non interference in the affairs and activities of the Jaycee organization at any level of CALIFORNIA JCI SENATE ARTICLE I NAME AND RECORD CONSTITUTION Section 1 The name of this corporation is the California JCI Senate. Section 2 The principle office of this Corporation is vested with the President of the California JCI Senate. Section 3 This Corporation shall be chartered for incorporation purposes under the Not For Profit Corporation Act in the State of Californiaits structure, and shall assist the Jaycees as invited, asked, or requested, but only after careful and due consideration. Limitations of this Corporation to ensure non interference shall be further defined within the By Laws of the Corporation. Section 6 The primary function of this Corporation shall be to create and foster fellowship among our membership. Other functions shall be: To create opportunities for assemblage of its members. To distribute a quarterly publication to all its members. ARTICLE IV JCI CREED Section 1 Toward these ends, we adopt the following as our creed: WE BELIEVE: THAT faith in God gives meaning and purpose to human life; THAT the brotherhood of man transcends the sovereignty of nations; THAT economic justice can best be won by free men through free enterprise; THAT government should be of laws rather than of men; THAT earth's great treasurers lie in human personality and THAT service to humanity is the best work of life. ARTICLE V SEAL, INSIGNIA, AND FLAG Section 1 The official insignia of the Corporation shall be:

6 ARTICLE VI MEMBERSHIP Section 1 Membership of this Corporation shall consist of any individual who shall have been duly elected to membership in the J.C.I. Senate according to the J.C.I. constitution. ARTICLE VII GOVERNMENT Section 1 The government of this Corporation shall be vested in a Board of Directors, as prescribed in the Corporation's By Laws. Section 2 The officers of the Corporation shall be elected in the manner prescribed in the Corporation's By Laws. ARTICLE VIII AMENDMENTS Section 1 This Constitution may be amended by an affirmative vote of three fourths (3/4) of the membership voting and present at any meeting of the Corporation, provided that a written copy of the proposed amendment has been mailed to each voting member of the organization at least thirty (30) days prior to such meeting, together with a notice of the date, time, and place of such meeting. ********************** The original Constitution was adopted and revised, in accordance with the provisions therein, at the following locations, on the dates listed: Adoption: Atlanta, GA June 20, 1972 Amendments:
