At least we got through the Spring SC ANFP Conference before the blast of winter moved in. I got 4 of snow at my house by 10 am on Sunday and it was gone by 4:30 that afternoon. That is living in the South for sure. We had a great conference once again. Thanks to Kathleen Sodoma from Performance Food Group for hosting us at the PFG warehouse in Florence, SC. DHEC made their appearance at Eric Ladd s community so he was unable to attend and Renee Spence had just returned to work after her maternity leave (such a cutie little Charlie is) so she was unable to attend also. We missed them both, but were able to move past these setbacks and still have a great conference. The mystery basket was a fun time. Thanks to Chef Robert for preparing this for our volunteers to create some wonderful tasting dishes. You know you have a friend when one volunteer does a vegan dish for one of the board members. That was a kind thing to do. Thanks Rick. We did something a little different this year and instead of bringing in 5 canned goods for donation and a chance to win $50.00, we asked for a donation of $5.00 per ticket. We raised $ which was donated to the South Carolina Autism Society. She was very grateful and quite surprised of our offering. The board will be working on some changes to the By-Laws to be voted on at a special called membership meeting. Date, time and location TBD, so keep an eye out on Facebook, for blasts and the Newsletter for more information on this. We are starting our work on the SC/NC ANFP Fall Conference to be held Oct 25-27, 2017 at the Embassy Suites, Kingston Plantation, Myrtle Beach, SC. We as a board are asking for any help you can give us with speakers, vendors or volunteer help. You can contact myself or any other board member if you have anything. Just go on the SCANFP website for our contact information. Congratulations to Brandy Layne who was elected as our new Vice-President. I know she will be awesome at her new endeavor as she goes through the process for the next 4 years. I will be taking over as Secretary as Brandy takes on her new role. I m looking forward to following in her footsteps and can only hope to be half as good as she has been. Thank you Brandy for all your hard work and dedication. Everyone have a great summer and hope to see some of you in Las Vegas in June for the National ACE ANFP Conference. If not I ll see you all at the beach in October. It s going to be a Mad Time Effective June 1, 2017 CBDM will be requiring nine (9) hours of Sanitation CE over their three year re certification period instead of the current five (5) hour requirement. 7 On the ballet for voting: Updates to the By Laws: OLD: ** Treasurer 3 year Treasurer shall serve a 3 year term, and will not leave office until after the audit has been done at the end of the fiscal year shortly after the annual State Fall Meeting. SECTION 4. BALLOT DEADLINE: The Nominating Committee must submit a ballot to the Secretary within thirty (30) days after the fall workshop. The Secretary shall prepare ballots to be handed out to eligible voters at the Spring Workshop. The President shall appoint a Tellers Committee of two (2) or more members independent of elected officers to count the ballots. The Chair of the Tellers Committee submits a written ballot count to the President. The President informs the membership and the candidates of the results and give to the Secretary a copy of the Tellers Committee report to file. SECTION 5. VOTING: The election of state officers shall be conducted by ballots which shall be available to all those eligible to vote in the state chapter. SUBSECTION A: Ballots may be made available in the winter printed edition of Wren Notes with instructions on deadlines for submission, and any other electronic media which can be used for the same results. Section 4. STATE EXECUTIVE BOARD OF DIRECTORS: The President, President Elect, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and immediate Past President and all newly elected officers and committee chairs The Executive Board of Directors shall reflect the broader membership and interests of the Association; be recommended by the Nominating Committee, and elected by the members; and be entitled to vote on matters that come before the Executive Committee. The State Executive Committee shall exercise the powers of the State Board of Directors, to the extent permitted by law, between meetings of the State Board of Directors. SECTION 5. VOTING ARTICLE VIII QUORUM The quorum of the association shall be a majority of the members (1/2 registered members plus one) who have registered as attending the meeting, irrespective of whether some may have departed. 7
