2 From the President The 2016 Presidential Election feels like being forced to make a choice between (1) jumping off a six foot ladder into a murky kiddie pool filled with piranha or (2) high diving off a cliff looking into a clear deep river. The result of selecting the first choice, you know you re going be bitten by the piranha or seriously injured or killed by the jump. In the second choice, you don t know what s ahead. You re diving into unknown territory. You re not sure if there will be a rocky ending for you but you have the hope that you will land safely and enjoy the dive. That s the difference between voting for Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump. We know what to expect from Hillary Clinton. A Clinton presidency only means more debt, more Obama Care, and more hardworking families still struggling. The Clinton presidency will stack the Supreme Court with left-wing judges who will tromp on the Constitution and our second amendment rights. Our foreign policy will mean forgetting about our friends and enabling our enemies. Don t forget the Iran nuclear deal! It was on her watch that ISIS began its evil rise. We will expect more lies upon lies. For Hillary Clinton, the White House will be that murky pool of corruption and pay for play. The piranhas will be circling, waiting to maim us. On the other hand, we only know Donald Trump by his business empire. We know that he has apparently made very successful decisions and has amassed great wealth as a result. His style might not be what we like but he may be exactly what we need. Yes, jumping into the Trump River is an unknown. It may be rocky but it just may turn out to be an exhilarating dive. The American people have had enough of the Clintons excuses, cronyism, corruption, and cover ups. This election is our last chance to change it and Donald Trump is the only man to address it! Illegal immigration, a poor economy, terrorism, abortion, lawlessness! Hillary Clinton s left wing agenda only further exacerbate these issues. Donald Trump s platform is to work towards our economic freedom, strengthen our national defense, and provide our children and grandchildren with the American Dream. For some of you who are not Trump supporters and those who insist on Never Trump, please think of what you will reap if you dive into that piranha-infested water of the Hillary pool or into the Libertarian puddle. Four to eight more years of the Obama regime, higher taxes, more illegals, a poor economy, ISIS within our borders. Yes, some of us dive into water holding our noses. But we, hopefully, land safely. Take that dive from the cliff into what we hope and pray will be clear, blue water with boundless liberty and prosperity. Stand united! Vote Republican. Vote Donald Trump. Bonnie Hochberg

3 From the First Vice President What separates a politician from a normal human being is an excessive amount of self-confidence. No normal human being would subject themselves to the punishment of running for office. While there are many in politics who seem to prove otherwise, certainly there are those who are grounded in logic and common sense, while at the same time this cannot be said about others. These a few things Charlie Reese has written: Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them. Have you ever wondered, if both Democrats and Republicans are against deficits, why do we have them? You and I don t propose the federal budget. The President does. You and I don t write tax code, Congress does. You and I don t set fiscal policy, Congress does. You and I don t control monetary policy, the Federal Reserve Bank does. One hundred senators, 435 congressmen, one President and nine Supreme Court justices equates to 545 human beings out of over 300 million people are directly, legally, morally and individually responsible for problems that face our country It took almost 200 years and 39 presidents to accumulate the first trillion dollars in debt to our country, and this president did nearly twice that in his first year in office. What is it now, I think nearly 21 trillion? Most of us can t even imagine how much that is! All I can say folks is, let s make AMERICA GREAT AGAIN! Get our people out to VOTE. Jan Martinson Arrowhead RW Calendar of Events Friday, Sept. 2 ROSIE the NFRW bus stopping at Phoenix Capitol, 12p, lunch to follow at Alexi s Grill contact Region Director Carol Jones to RSVP for lunch Wednesday, Sept. 14 ARW meeting, Dr. Vicki Alger speaking Friday & Saturday, September AzFRW Fall State Meeting, Tucson Wednesday, Oct. 12 ARW meeting, County Attorney Bill Montgomery speaking Wednesday, Nov. 9 ARW meeting, ARW officer election, program TBD Saturday, Dec. 3 ARW meeting/holiday party

4 Greetings Friends, From the Second Vice President Membership Musings I hope you all had a wonderful summer vacation and you are looking forward to our monthly luncheons. I know I am! It has been a long hot summer and I have missed you all. We had several ladies join our club this summer. Please welcome Debbie Cornell, Sandy Parkhurst, Marsha Hill and Patsy Stender. Welcome, ladies, and we look forward to meeting you! ARW is planning on having a membership get together every few months. This is a great way to get together on a smaller scale to get to know one another. We are so excited that Anne Wojcik has graciously volunteered to host a Halloween luncheon the third week in October. We re not sure of the exact date yet, but we will let everyone know in plenty of time so that you can mark your calendars. If you are interested in hosting a coffee, please let me know. Just a heads up that we will start 2017 membership renewals in October. I was so proud of those of you who renewed by December 31 st last year. It helped us meet our goal of getting 80% of our existing members to renew. The club received extra points for meeting our goal. Thank you all so much for your cooperation! Let s do it again this year! Have a great Labor Day! Arlene Goldblatt CONGRATULATIONS Primary Winners! Arrowhead RW has enjoyed the company of our local, state, and national elected officials and candidates at many ARW meetings and events. While a number were unopposed in the primary, NOW THE REAL WORK BEGINS!! ALL candidates will GREATLY APPRECIATE any time or funds you may be willing to contribute in their efforts to act as your voice in government! Contact any of the ARW EC to help you connect with a candidate if needed. GOOD LUCK, ALL!

5 Lesko Legislative Update I am honored and blessed to serve as your State Senator. I ran for office to make a positive difference in our state and nation and I ve developed a reputation for taking on big issues to accomplish that goal. Because of my hard work I have been named Senator of the Year by the Arizona Chamber of Commerce, Legislator of the Year by the American Legislative Exchange Council-a national organization, Friend of the Taxpayer by Americans for Prosperity, Friend of the Family by the AZ Family Project and Legislator of the Year by the Arizona Republican Party. I couldn t have done that without the help of many great people. This year my biggest accomplishment was pension reform. After working for a year with firefighters, police, cities, the Reason Foundation, the governor s office, and Republican and Democratic legislators we negotiated legislation that sustains the pension system for our firefighters and police and saves taxpayers over $1.5 billion. I am pleased that voters passed my legislation, Proposition 124, with a 70% approval rate. My next goals are to find a solution to Surprise healthcare billing and to help improve the Department of Child Safety in order to protect innocent children. To that end, I am meeting with doctors, hospitals, and insurance companies to find out how we can help prevent hospital patients from being billed by out-of- insurance network providers when the patient has no control over who is treating them. I am also going on a series of ridealongs with Department of Child Service employees to better understand how the agency works. I represent fantastic people in Peoria, Surprise, Sun City, El Mirage, and Youngtown. If you have a problem, comment, or question please contact me anytime at DLesko@azleg.gov or call Sincerely, Debbie Lesko Arizona State Senate Legislative District 21
