Call to Order Board President Dorothy Beltramine called the Regular Meeting of the Hardyston Board of Education to order on May 10, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. in the Library of the Hardyston Middle School, 183 Wheatsworth Road, Hamburg, NJ President Dorothy Beltramine read the Open Public Meetings Act statement. Any discussion held by the Board which need not remain confidential will be made public when appropriate. Minutes of the private session will not be disclosed until the need for confidentiality no longer exists. The Board will reconvene in public session at the conclusion of the closed session. Old Business WHEREAS, on or about March 22, 2016, the Office of Fiscal and Accountability and Compliance of the New Jersey Department of Education (OFAC) issued its findings in Case Number INV , which were received by the District on or about April 1, 2016; and WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.A.C. 6A:23A-5.6, the Board hereby certifies that the findings in said report were publicly discussed at the Board s regularly scheduled meeting of April 26, 2016; Hardyston Township Board of Education Minutes Regular Meeting May 10, Page 3 of 15
4 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Education hereby approves the corrective action plan to address the issues raised in the findings issued by OFAC; and BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED, that the Board directs the Superintendent to submit a copy of this resolution to OFAC within ten (10) days, as required by the New Jersey Administrative Code. 12 P-25 RESOLVED, that the Board of Education hereby approves the appointment of Michael Ryder to the position of Chief School Administrator/Principal at the salary of $130,000 for the school year, as well as the Employment Contract between Mr. Ryder and the Board of Education, effective July 1, 2016 through June 30, 2019, which has been approved by the Executive County Superintendent of Schools. ACTION ITEM(S): P-25 Motion of adopt: R. Hoffman Seconded By: N. Demsak Restel _X X Van Ginneken CURRICULUM/PROGRAMS C/P-1 Motion to approve the preschool disabled and the multiple disabled programs for the extended school year (ESY) to begin on June 20, 2016 through July 22, 2016 (24 days). As provided in the district budget, the preschool disabled program will operate for 2.5 hours per day 5 days per week and the multiple disabled program will operate for 3.5 hours per day 5 days per week. Summer tutors for identified students needed are 5, for the period July 27 through August 5, In addition to the staff listed below, 1 school nurse (3.5 hrs. per day) and speech therapy; occupational and physical therapy through an outside consultant will be needed. PSD: MD: 2 certified teacher (3 hrs/day) 1 certified teacher(4 hrs/day) 2 personal aides (2.5 hrs/day) 4 personal aides (3.5 hrs/day) 5 classroom aides (2.5 hrs/day) 1 LPN (2.5 hrs/day) C/P-2 Motion to approve Brooke Junior, currently a student with Liberty University School of Education, to be a student teacher at the elementary school for the period September 1, 2016 through October 21, Melissa Geaney, Kindergarten teacher, has agreed to be Brooke s cooperating teacher during this period. Giordano FACILITIES/OPERATIONS F/O-1 Motion to approve a temporary equipment box placed at the Elementary School softball field chained to the backstop fence for the spring season by the Wallkill Valley Girls Softball League. The league will remove the box at the end of the season. F/O-2 Motion to approve the temporary placement of a port-o-john on the side of the Elementary School fields (as done in the past) for the spring season.
