CALL TO ORDER Mrs. Yeager will preside and voice the call to order at 7pm of the Work Session Meeting. II. OPEN PUBLIC MEETING STATEMENT will read the following: The New Jersey Open Public Meetings Law was enacted to insure the right of the public to have advance notice of and to attend the meetings of public bodies at which any business affecting their interests is discussed and acted upon. In accordance with the provisions of this act and Board of Education Bylaw 0160, the Wharton Borough Board of Education has caused notice of this meeting to be sent to the Daily Record, posted on the bulletin board in the Wharton Public School, filed with the Wharton Borough Clerk, and mailed to all those people who have requested individual notice and paid the required fee. 2 IX. BOARD ACTION A. MINUTES 1. Upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, the Board of Education approves the Regular Business Meeting Minutes from the September 29, 2016 meeting. 2. Upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, the Board of Education approves the Closed Session Meeting Minutes from the September 29, 2016 meeting. Motion to move Minutes A1-A2 X. B. CURRICULUM AND STUDENT ACTIVITIES 1. The Superintendent of School recommends that the Board of Education approves the following policies and regulations, which are referred to by title and attached to and made part of this resolution: (District Goal 3) R 2414 Programs and Services for Students in High Poverty and in High Need School Districts 2nd (M) (Revised) P 5339 Screening for Dyslexia (M) (Revised) 2nd 2. Upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, the Board of Education approves the following vendor for related services as listed below: Acct # (District Goal 3) Employee Purpose Compensation Professional Education Services, Inc. Home Instruction for Student LID# beginning 10/4/16 through 10/7/16 10 hours/week $46.61/hour 3. Upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, the Board of Education approves the following fundraiser: (District Goal 3) Lip Sync Battle - Grades 6, 7, 8 (Ghahari/LaGrassa/Freeman/Turner/Daniel): Mrs. Daniel and Dr. Ketch will be participating in a musical competition on October 20, Admission to the event will be $5.00 for all. Student families will be asked to donate snacks/beverages for the snack stand. 4. Upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, the Board of Education approves the acceptance of the monetary donation from a senior at the Climate and Culture Breakfast. The Board of Education employs substitute teachers, aides and nurses as per the below list at the compensation rates of $80/day (Non-cert), $85/day (Cert); $90/day (Non-cert after 10 days); $95/day (Cert after 10 days); $125/day for substitute nurses and $10.00/hr for substitute aides. OPEN TO THE PUBLIC FOR DISCUSSION CLOSED SESSION: Motion by: second by, at p.m WHEREAS, the Open Public Meetings Act, N.J.S.A.10:4-11, permits the Board of Education to meet in closed session to discuss certain matters, now, therefore be it RESOLVED, the Board of Education adjourns to closed session to discuss: (select one or more) 1) a matter rendered confidential by federal or state law 2) a matter in which release of information would impair the right to receive government funds 3) material the disclosure of which constitutes an unwarranted invasion of individual privacy 4) a collective bargaining agreement and/or negotiations related to it 5) a matter involving the purchase, lease, or acquisition of real property with public funds 6) protection of public safety and property and/or investigations of possible violations or violations of law 7) pending or anticipated litigation or contract negotiation and/or matters of attorney-client privilege 8) specific prospective or current employees unless all who could be adversely affected request an open session 9) deliberation after a public hearing that could result in a civil penalty or other loss and be it FURTHER RESOLVED, the minutes of this closed session be made public when the need for confidentiality no longer exists.
