1 Queensbury Union Free School District Board of Education Meeting Monday, August 14, :00 p.m. Elementary School Cafeteria Agenda I. Pledge to the Flag II. III. IV. Presentations August 4 Storm Damage and Recovery Open Forum Public participation is encouraged. There will be two specific Open Forums at each regular Board of Education meeting to provide opportunities to address the Board of Education. We ask participants who wish to speak during the first Open Forum to both sign in and identify themselves verbally and, if applicable, the organization they are representing, so that they may be recognized by the Board President. For clarity, we ask that all speakers identify the school related matter/topic to be discussed. In order to conduct District Business in a smooth, orderly, and timely manner, Open Forum is limited to a maximum of 30 minutes with 3 minutes allocated to each speaker. All participants will be asked to speak into a microphone during Open Forums. The Board of Education appreciates public attendance and participation at meetings. Business Items - Assistant Superintendent for Business A. Tax Assessment Motion Motion to approve the assessment roll as prepared by the Town Assessor in the amount of $2,099,185,325 (Town of Queensbury = $2,097,048,335 City of Glens Falls = $ 2,136,990) for the purposes of levying taxes for the school year. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the sum of $33,230,179 be levied on the taxable property of the District at a tax rate of per thousand of assessed valuation in the Town of Queensbury and $ per thousand of assessed value in the City of Glens Falls. The warrant shall state that the collection of taxes shall begin on September 1, 2017 and continue without interest or penalty through October 1, 2017 after which a penalty of 2% shall be added. Taxes collected after November 1, 2017 shall have a 3% penalty added with all tax collections to cease November 3, (Note: Town of Queensbury equalization rate = %, City of Glens Falls equalization rate %) Motion: Ayes:

MOTION to award the following contracts for the 2016 Legacy Capital Project (voter approved January 2016): Contract No. 1 - General Construction Work Prime Contract (GC) to Adirondack Taping and Supply Inc as the low bidder in the amount of $46,880. Contract No. 2 - Electrical Construction Work Prime Contract (EC) to Kasselman Electric Co Inc as the low bidder in the amount of $49,950. Motion: Ayes: Seconded: Nays: C. MOTION to approve the following resolution: WHEREAS, on August 4, 2017, a significant windstorm occurred knocking down approximately 25 large trees on the District property causing damage to the entrance to the District s Elementary School, roofing and solar installations, fencing, and District-wide HVAC and irrigation systems; and WHEREAS, the Board of Education has determined that the damage from the wind storm has created a public emergency arising out of an unforeseen occurrence affecting District buildings and property that require immediate action and cannot await competitive bidding; and WHEREAS, the Board of Education has also determined that the unforeseen occurrence requires immediate repairs in the nature of a construction emergency project as defined by the New York State Education Department; NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, that as a result of a public emergency arising out of an unforeseen occurrence that requires immediate action which cannot await competitive bidding, the School District may engage a contractor or contractors to remove the damaged trees and to repair the damage to the entrance to the District s Elementary School, roofing and solar installations, fencing, and District wide HVAC and irrigation systems at a cost not to exceed $250,000.
