Approve the administrator tenure--secondary Assistant Principal appointment for Timothy Wiles, Assistant Principal at Amherst Central High School, effective May 26, Approve the administrator tenure--secondary Assistant Principal appointment for Keith Crombie, Assistant Principal at Amherst Middle School, effective June 3, 2018.

Kim-Marie Eisenhauer is being released as a result of the abolishment of this position. c. Instructional - Teaching Assistants 6. Item F-1-a 4/17/18 MINUTES OF THE 870 REGULAR BUSINESS MEETING BOARD OF EDUCATION AMHERST CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT March 20, 2018 District Office Conference Room Present: Paul Steimle - President, Jeanne Ernst - Vice-President, Paul Batt, Lorry Goldhawk, Jessica McLaughlin, Mark Smith, Dominic Vivolo Not Present: None Others Present: Anthony Panella - Superintendent, Ryan Schoenfeld - Assistant Superintendent, Michael Belle-Isle - Assistant Superintendent, Laura Bosinski - Business Administrator Meeting called to order by Paul Steimle, President, at 7:00 pm WRITTEN COMMUNICATION None REPORT OF SPECIAL COMMITTEES Dr. Ryan Schoenfeld stated the Technology Committee met to discuss and review progressive technology, examine what is being used in the classrooms at each school, and prioritize their work for next year. SUPERINTENDENT S REPORT Physical Education, Health and Athletics Update Director Dr. Kiel Illg spoke about learning and achievement, student life, and Amherst pride as it pertains to Health, Physical Education and the Athletic programs. Highlights include preparing student leaders, using technology to enhance programs, activities offered to attract students and families, and the many accomplishments of our sports teams and students. Proposed Budget Business Administrator Laura Bosinski discussed the proposed budget and fund balance projection for the Board of Education to consider. After a straw vote, the board unanimously agreed on a budget of $58,552,000 to be presented to the public. Exit Poll Discussion Board President Paul Steimle polled the board about continuing to offer an Exit Poll at this year s Budget Vote. All board members were in favor with no changes to any questions. A motion was made by Jeanne Ernst and seconded by Lorry Goldhawk to approve the following New Business Items: F-1-a through i; Personnel Items: F-2-a through d, and Financial Item F-3-d. The motion unanimously carried (7-0). NEW BUSINESS a. Approve Minutes of March 20, 2018 Regular Business Meeting. b. Approve the Recommendations of the Committee on Special Education and the Subcommittee on Special Education. c. Approve the Recommendations of the Committee on Preschool Special Education. d. Approve declaring the replacement of the curtainwall system, entry doors and hardware, and associated work at the Middle School/District Office vestibule to be a Type II action under SEQRA, and authorize and direct inclusion of funding for such project in the District s Annual Budget. e. Preapprove the Overnight/Out-of-Country Field Trip Proposal to Washington, DC for one hundred sixty-eight (168) students: April 25, 2018 April 27, 2018 (No Cost to the District). f. Accept Gifts/Donations on the Attached List and Increase the District s Budget Appropriation by $ g. To receive tenure, the individual must receive overall APPR ratings of "effective" or "highly effective" in at least three of four preceding years, including the tenure year. Appoint Mark Deleel as Custodian--40 hours/week at Windermere Boulevard School (replacing Kevin McKnight) retroactive to April 9, His 26-week probationary period is April 9, 2018 through October 8, 2018 in accordance with civil service rules and regulations. Motion unanimously carried (7-0). The board convened to Executive Session at 8:09 PM. A motion to convene to Public Session was made by Mark Smith, seconded by Jessica McLaughlin. Motion unanimously carried (7-0). The board convened to Public Session at 9:26 PM. A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Paul Batt, seconded by Dominic Vivolo. Motion unanimously carried (7-0). 38 Regular Business Mtg. Item F-1-s 4/17/18 The ACHS Class of 1973 would like to donate a tree to be planted at the high school, in memory of our deceased classmates. The location of the tree will be at the discretion of the school district. A 3" Crimson King Maple tree has been selected based on the suggestion of the grounds department. The tree has been purchased at Russell's Tree & Shrub Farm, 9800 Transit Rd, East Amherst, NY { ). Russell's will install the tree at a mutually agreed time after approval by the Board of Education. Several of our local classmates have offered to assist the school in maintaining the tree.
