1 PENNS MANOR AREA SCHOOL DISTRICT BOARD OF EDUCATION MINUTES OF MEETING OF OCTOBER 12, 2017 The regular meeting of the Penns Manor Area School Board of Education was held on Thursday, October 12, The meeting was called to order by Vice President, Ronald Beilchick at 7:00 p.m. On roll call the following members were present: Mr. Beilchick, Mrs. Eckenrode, Mr. Hardesty, Mr. Polenik, and Dr. Wheatley. Mrs. Dudeck, Mr. Sutila and Mr. Packer were excused. The following administrators were present: Mr. Johnston, Mrs. Dolges, Mrs. Zeglen, Mr. Grimaldi, and Mr. Muscatello. Mr. Dalton was excused. Also present was Mr. Ronald Saffron, Esquire. PRESENTATIONS APPROVAL OF AGENDA Motion by Dr. Wheatley, seconded by Mrs. Eckenrode to amend the agenda as follows: Under section 16B, Field trips/conferences, change have been approved to needs to be approved. Motion by Mrs. Eckenrode, seconded by Mr. Polenik, to approve the agenda as amended. On roll call the following members voted: Mr. Hardesty Dr. Wheatley Mr. Beilchick Mr. Polenik CITIZENS REMARKS TO BOARD Dr. Wheatley, board member and citizen, asked Mr. Johnston to discuss what was talked about in the Athletic Committee meeting that was held before the board meeting. Mr. Johnston reviewed the discussion at the meeting. MINUTES OF ALL MEETINGS - enclosure 1 Motion by Mr. Hardesty, seconded by Mr. Polenik, to approve the minutes of all meetings as printed. D. Sleppy Construction, Inc. to excavate ground and install a concrete pad for a road salt storage bin at the cost of $2, On roll call the following members voted:

On roll call the following members voted: Mr. Hardesty Dr. Wheatley Mr. Beilchick Mr. Polenik POLICIES Approve Policy 209.2, Diabetes Management in Schools Motion by Mrs. Eckenrode, seconded by Dr. Wheatley, to approve Policy 290.2, Diabetes Management, in Schools whereby the Board recognizes that an effective program of diabetes management in school is crucial to: 1. The immediate safety of students with diabetes. 2. The long-term health of students with diabetes. 3. Ensure that students with diabetes are ready to learn and participate fully in school activities. 4. Minimize the possibility that diabetes-related emergencies will disrupt classroom activities. On roll call the following members voted: Mr. Hardesty Dr. Wheatley Mr. Beilchick Mr. Polenik CORRESPONDENCE NEW BUSINESS Approve Substitutes and Guest Teachers Motion by Mr. Hardesty, seconded by Mr. Polenik, to approve the following as substitutes and guest teachers for the school year, subject to the receipt of all current clearances and certifications. Professional: Lillian Bash, Nurse; Anna Bloom, Social Studies 7-12, Reading Specialist PK-12, All Subjects 4-6, ELA and Reading 7-8, Special Education PK-8. Guest Teachers - Elisa Bradshaw, Rebecca Hudak, Rachael Lisica, Tori Saxfield, Krista Schawl, Aaron Simpson, Fallon Simpson and Tyler Strini. Support Staff: Amanda Cessna, Cafeteria, Instructional Assistant and Secretarial. On roll call the following members voted:

4 Mrs. Eckenrode Mr. Hardesty Mr. Packer Mr. Polenik Mr. Sutila Dr. Wheatley Mr. Beilchick Mrs. Dudeck Increase Substitute Teacher Pay Rate Motion by Dr. Wheatley, seconded by, to increase the substitute teacher daily pay rate from $85.00 per day to $90.00 per day commencing on October 23, On roll call the following members voted: Mr. Hardesty Dr. Wheatley Mr. Beilchick Mr. Polenik Hire Student Assistance Program Member Motion by, seconded by Mr. Hardesty, to hire Mr. Gerald Hughes as a member of the Student Assistance Program effective immediately at the contractual rate of $ for the school year.
