2 Marking Scheme: Ttal 80 questins have 200 marks, thus each questin is f 2.5 marks. There is a negative marking f 33% r 0.83 marks. Decisin making sectin desn't have any negative marking. All f them are f descriptive type. There are tw qualifying papers 1) any mdern Indian language 2) English are f 300 marks each. Their marks will nt be cunted in the main examinatin. The candidate is allwed t use any ne language frm the Eighth Schedule f the Cnstitutin r English as the medium f writing the examinatin. Accrding t the new pattern there are "FOUR" General Studies paper each cmprising f 250 Marks with a ttal f 1000 Marks. The scpe f the syllabus f General Studies is f degree level. There is nly "ONE" ptinal subject t chse frm the list f subjects. It cmprises f tw papers each f 300 marks. S the ttal f ptinal paper is 600 marks. Candidate is allwed t take up literature as an ptinal subject "withut the cnditinality f having t d his/her graduatin in that language's literature. The scpe f the syllabus f ptinal paper is higher than the bachelr's degree but lwer than the master's level. Interview/Persnality Test is f 275 Marks. Candidate can give preference f the language in which they may like t be interviewed. UPSC will make arrangement fr the translatrs. The ttal mark f the written examinatin is 1750 Marks.
