8 Some Issues from Replies to Questionnaire Lack of proper co-operation with other agencies involved in services data collection is a concern The difference in sectoral definitions and standards used by different agencies makes it difficult to use in the BoP statistics a lot of data collected by several national agencies Most BOP data series for different services sectors are relatively new, going back only to mid/late 90s

9 Some Methodology Issues from Replies to Questionnaire Travel-related data is usually estimated based on economic models using immigration data on number and approx length of stay of travelers and assumed expenditures per capita/day For sectors other than transport and travel, most countries use a mix of ITRS and enterprise surveys. A few use just ITRS. ITRS was primary source for compiling FATS data. Some countries, however, used surveys. Some countries use tax and financial statements of firms as a source of data. Is that appropriate in the absence of surveys or together with surveys? What is the relationship between tax administrations and central banks in collecting such data?
