1 PAKISTAN On behalf of UniGroup Relocation, we will be coordinating the shipment of your goods to. To simplify the process, we have outlined the necessary steps to ensure a smooth transition. This will also review your responsibilities in assisting with this process. In addition to the points below, the following pages will outline the requirements, which will be facilitated by our local representative to complete the clearance. They will assist with each item specific to your shipment so please be assured they will do whatever is necessary to facilitate a quick and efficient clearance. The documentation process, for example, passports, visas, power of attorney, etc., can take one week to 14 days plus the transportation airfreight seven to 21 days / weeks and ocean six to eight weeks, depending on the origin. It is extremely important that you take a few moments to review these important requirements, as they will allow us to process the release of your personal property through foreign customs. Customs and immigration requirements are established by the country of import and not by UniGroup Relocation. This guide has been designed to assist clients understand and comply with country-specific requirements. Substantial effort has been made to ensure that the information provided is current and correct. Such regulations, however, are subject to change without notice by the country of import. UniGroup Relocation assumes no liability for changes in the law or interpretation by enforcement personnel as it exists at the time you and/or your goods enter the country. Visa Requirements Details Please advise your local representative or UniGroup Relocation Representative of the Type of passport or visa you will be travelling under (working visa, temporary visa, diplomatic, etc.) When moving to, some specific documents will be required in order to satisfy local immigration officials. *Contact address and telephone number must be listed on all documents. Required Documents Visitors Visit Visa Details Requirements for Visit Visa are: Duly filled Visa Form Original passport (valid for at least six months) along with its photocopy Two recent passport size photographs (with white background) Letter of Invitation. Proof of sufficient funds for duration of stay. The following persons do not require Visa to enter : Holders of a Origin Card (POC) regardless of nationality for unlimited stay. Nationals of Tonga, Trinidad and Tobago for an unlimited period. Effective: Jan. 1,

2 Tourists Tourist Visa Transit Visa Businesspeople Business Visa Nationals of Iceland, Maldives and Zambia for visits of up to a maximum of three months. Nationals of Nepal and Samoa, and holders of Chinese passports issued in Hong Kong, for visits of up to 30 days. Transit passengers continuing their journey within 24 hours by the same or first connecting aircraft, provided they are holding onward or return documentation and not leaving the airport. Holders of UN Laissez-passer. Requirements for Tourist Visa are: Valid/signed passport (valid for six months beyond stay with at least one blank visa page). One visa application form completed and signed. Two passport photographs. Proof of departure (computer generated flight itinerary). Sponsorship letter or Invitation letter through the Ministry of Interiors, Islamabad. Single and double entry visas are valid up to three months. Multiple entry visas are based on consul's decision. They can be issued up to one year. The length of stay can be up to 90 days, but usually is 30 days. Proof of sufficient funds for duration of stay. Transit Visa is issued to those who are travelling to other countries through. Requirements for Transit Visa are: Duly filled Visa Form Original passport (valid for at least six months) along with its photocopy Two recent passport size photographs (with white background) Applicants should produce the original ticket up to the country of final destination. Transit visa will not carry duration of stay of more than 72 hours. Requirements for Business Visa are: Passport with validity of more than six months. Four Visa application forms duly filled in and signed (Photocopy can be used) Four recent passport size color photographs with a light background to be glued on the appropriate place on the visa application form. Covering letter from the applicant on company's letter head stating his name, designation, purpose and duration of visit. Effective: Jan. 1,

3 Invitation letter from and introductory letter from the parent company. Visiting card of the applicant. Authority Letter Proof of sufficient funds for duration of stay. Employees Work Visa Journalists Journalist Visa Single Entry Journalist Visa Requirements for visa extension up to one year with multiple entries and their accompanying spouses and dependent children: Valid passport for the period for which visa extension is required. Proof of ownership of business, or Proof of partnership with the local businessman (this means business agreement between the foreigners and a registered local firm indicating the period for which business will be valid between the parties). Business visa holder claiming individual business or sole proprietorship is required to submit a written application explaining the business duly attested by a Notary Public/Oath Commissioner. Requirements for Work Visa are: Duly filled Visa Form Original passport (valid for at least six months) along with its photocopy Two recent passport size photographs (with white background) Job offer letter / letter from Board of Investment. Proof of sufficient funds for duration of stay. Only Media Persons (employed in Radio, TV, Newspapers & News Agencies and having journalistic assignment only) can apply for Journalist Visa. Single Entry Journalist Visa is issued for Lahore, Islamabad and Karachi only maximum for 15 days to Journalists (going for news reporting/news coverage/sports coverage only). Requirements for Single Entry Journalist Visa are: Visa Application Form Computer Proforma Color photographs two copies [Staple photos] Original Passport along with one photocopy of the passport Single Entry is valid for six months. 4 Double Entry Visa Multiple Entry Visa Applicant s Name, Passport Number, Nationality. Applicant s assignment in the company. Program/Purpose of visit in detail. The company will bear all expenses during visit. Undertaking that applicant will restrict himself/herself to news reporting/news coverage/sports coverage only. Undertaking that the applicant/applicants will not go to NWFP, Tribal Areas and Balochistan during stay in. Requirements for Double Entry Journalist Visa are: Visa Application Form Computer Proforma Form A [2 page] Color Photographs eight copies [Staple six copies on original visa application and two on photo copy] Itinerary/program in Photocopy of passport CV of individual/team members For Cameraman/Photographer, detail of equipment to be carried. Double Entry is valid for six months. Mention the following in Commissioning letter signed by the editor of the media company: Applicant s Name, Passport Number, Nationality. 5 Religious Workers Pilgrim Visa Diplomats/Officials Diplomatic and Official Visa Mention the following in Commissioning letter signed by the editor of the media company: Applicant s Name, Passport Number, Nationality. Applicant s assignment in the company. Program/Purpose of visit in detail. The company will bear all expenses during visit. Undertaking that applicant will restrict himself/herself to news reporting/news coverage/sports coverage only. Undertaking that the applicant/applicants will not go to NWFP, Tribal Areas and Balochistan during stay in. Pilgrim visa is issued to those who wish to visit holy places (Shrines/Gurdawaras) in. It is allowed to groups of pilgrims and is normally restricted for a specified period. The pilgrim visa is essentially for single entry. Requirements for Pilgrim Visa are: Duly filled Visa Form Original passport (valid for at least six months) along with its photocopy Two recent passport size photographs (with white background) Requirements for Diplomatic and Official Visa are: Duly filled Visa Form Original passport (valid for at least six months) along with its photocopy Two recent passport size photographs (with white background) A note verbale from the FCO would be required. Letter from sending government department or agency stating the Applicant's position and title, Purpose of travel, Dates of the trip and Reference person in. Diplomatic and official passport holders of the following countries do not require visa for three months: Algeria, Argentina, Austria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Iran, Morocco, Norway, Russian Federation, South Korea, Tunisia, Turkey. Students Diplomatic and official passport holders of the following countries do not require visa for one months: Azerbaijan, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Romania, Yugoslavia. Effective: Jan. 1,

6 Student Visa Requirements for Student Visa are: Three Duly filled Visa Forms. Original passport (valid for at least six months) along with its photocopy. Two recent passport size photographs (with white background) University / College / School acceptance letter. For minors (under 18 years old), both parents must sign this form. Proof of admission to recognized universities/institutions in for the duration of the course of study. Admission letter from the concerned institute/school/college. Proof of sufficient funds for duration of stay. Details: Visas are usually processed in five working days. Tourist Visa can be extended up to a maximum period of six months including the initial visa period on payment of fee. A work and student visa requires two to three months to process. If any of the particulars/information furnished are found to be incorrect/withheld visa is liable to be cancelled at any time. Incomplete and unsigned applications will not be processed. Businessman desirous of establishing business offices in can be issued multiple entry visas for one year on recommendation of the Embassy. Details: Customer must be in at the time of shipment arrival in order to provide original passport with date of entry and sign paperwork for Customs. The shipper must be in during customs clearance. Customs procedures in can take anywhere from three days to three weeks. Shipper should be prepared for any delays. New or used furniture requires the shipper s presence at customs clearance. Taxes must be paid prior to the property being released from customs. Duties Effective: Jan. 1,

8 Personal effects and household goods can be imported duty-free under the following condition: The shipment consists only of household goods and personal effects, in reasonable quantities. New items, less than six months old, are subject to high duties. The Shipper is a Diplomat, Returning Resident (non-electronic items only), or a Foreign expert sent for a Special Project. The following items are permitted duty free entry provided they are used and not in new condition (as per Transfer of Residence Rules): Old & used furniture or fixture. Kitchenware: i.e. Cutlery, Crockery (dishes, china, serving ware, Kitchen utensils). Rugs/Carpets. Household linen. Reading or writing aids. ONE personal computer or laptop. All other items in the shipment are subject to duties and taxes at rates indicated below and will be levied on cumulative value: Customs Duties based on Customs assessed value: 25% Sales tax (like VAT) based on Customs assessed value: 15% Withholding tax based on Customs assessed value: 06% Restricted and Prohibited Imports All countries, included, prohibit or restrict the importation of certain dangerous or sensitive items. 9 Restricted and Prohibited Exports Not available. Motor Vehicles Imports The following documents are required for the importation of motor vehicles: Required Documents Passport Import Permit Transfer of Residence Certificate Invoice / old registration book Details Required. Motor Vehicles can be imported into under the following conditions: Vehicle more than five years old shall not be allowed to be imported under gift, personal baggage and transfer of residence scheme. Details: Vehicles may be imported as personal baggage or on Transfer of Residence or as gift. Vehicles more than five years old shall not be allowed to be imported under gift, personal baggage and transfer of residence scheme. Duty and taxes are applicable and must be paid in foreign currency to the Government Vehicle Import Regulations. Importation is allowed only to diplomats and i Nationals. A motorcycle or scooter shall be allowed to be imported upon transfer of residence provided that there shall be no entitlement to import a vehicle. Motor Vehicles Exports Not available. Pets The requirements to transport dogs and cats may vary per country. 11 WOOD PACKAGING MATERIAL International wood packing requirements are in accordance with ISPM 15 (International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures: Guidelines for Regulating Wood Packaging Material in International Trade*) as of 5 July 2006: *ISPM 15 is produced by the Secretariat of the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) of the United Nations' Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). ISPM 15 requires certain phytosanitary procedures, in particular heat treatment or methyl bromide fumigation, relating to wood packaging material (including dunnage) made of raw wood in use in international trade; the phytosanitary procedures are meant to minimize the risk of introducing and spreading certain pests that live and breed in raw wood. REQUIREMENTS OF ISPM 15 Wood packaging material in the form of: Packing cases, boxes, crates, drums, and similar packings Pallets, box pallets, skids, and other load boards Pallet collars actually in use in the transport of objects of all kinds, except: Raw wood of 6mm thickness or less Processed wood produced by glue, heat and pressure, or any combination thereof The wood packaging material shall: Be subject to one of the approved measures as specified in Annex I To FAO ISPM 15 (currently, heat treatment or methyl bromide fumigation) Display a mark with: o The two-letter ISO Country Code (in place of XX in the image below) o A code identifying the producer (in place of 000 in the image below) o The code identifying the approved measure applied to the wood packing material in the mark as specified in Annex II to FAO ISPM 15 (in place of YY in the image below; examples are HT For Heat Treatment and MB for Methyl Bromide Fumigation ) o Where debarking is required, the letters DB shall be added to the abbreviation of the approved measure included in the said mark o The logo as specified in Annex II to FAO ISPM 15 (this logo is the ippc trademarked graphic symbol Effective: Jan. 1,
