1 Old Firefighter Times Feb 2017, 114 th Issue G. Michael Fuss, Editor Dear Friends, Not too long and spring will be here. This has been a mild and great winter so far. I have been playing in my band and a couple other bands in Milwaukee. Staying active with exercise and a lot of hobbies and working around here at Old No. 8. Lots of maintenance. I am still cooking just like when I was on the Department, but not everyday and not as much food like back then. It will be 27 years in June that I have been here. I ve been retired 17 years now, and I still love it. I have published the newsletter for 30 years, starting it in February 1987 and the Get-togethers. The first was at my Uncle Buds Tavern on Atwood Avenue and the present ones are at the Esquire. February 1988 the Get-Togethers were started. I started the picnic in 1990 at Warner Park and then gave Tom Speranza the reins in I was made the MFD Historian in 1987 by Chief Earle Roberts. My son, Mike, has been on for twenty years now, and is at Station 13. How the time flies. Old No. 8 opened on January 15, 1949 (68 years ago). I started coming here when I was growing up until I got on the Department. Hope everyone is doing well and may God bless all of you. 2 Shorts Saw Jeff Miller and he is doing good. Had nice visits with Jim Cerro and Joe Conway Jr. Saw Lionel Spartz and he is doing good. Had a nice talk with Bob McIntire, Terry Heimerl, and Roger Bagneski. Roger says he is just havin fun, he still pays basket ball, snowplows and mows lawns.
