2 We are pleased to announce that David Cope - Dickerson Emeriti Professor of Music at the University of California-Santa Cruz - has accepted our invitation to give the ATMI/CMS Lecture for the 2012 conference. David is well known for his work in developing the EMI (Experiments in Musical Intelligence) software. EMI utilizes artificial intelligence algorithms to analyze existing music and create new compositions in the style of the original input. In addition to speaking about his processes of developing EMI and of composing, he will share live performances of some of the original works analyzed by EMI, followed by "her" original compositions. 3 related to distance learning, its history and future and current resources. The workshop will provide a mixture of hands-on experiences, lecture/demos, open discussion time, and sharing through a peer-reviewed "showcase" session.
