Plese red through the complete procedure efore disssemly. REQUIRED TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT 1 spry cn of silicone oil 1 crimping pliers for electricl terminl lugs screwdriver (3 lde) or Phillips screwdriver for newer reels Rgs to clen the cles REMOVING OLD WIRE Refer to the Figure 1 on pge Remove the cover from the extension reel (I). 2. Disconnect the extension reel cle (O) t the oom hed. If the cle hs not lredy een roken, llow it to rewind slowly onto the extension reel. WARNING: If the cle is llowed to rewind uncontrolled, the end of the cle could fly round cusing dmge to the crne nd equipment nd dnger to service personnel. 3. Move the tringulr plte (L) out of the wy, s follows, so tht the extension reel cle cn quickly e removed. Remove the two cle clips (C) from the ngle sensor cle (J) where it runs long the top of the of the tringulr plte. Remove the 3 truss hed screws (A) nd gently pull the tringulr plte wy from the reel. Swing the plte round so the corner cn e rettched to the upper cover stndoff (E) with one of the truss hed screws. NOTE: No wires need to e disconnected from the terminl lock on the plte. 4. Remove the upper cle gurd (D) nerest to you nd set it side. Set side the screws. 5. Loosen the loops of extension reel cle round the reel nd pull the cle over the side of the reel. 6. Disconnect the two conductors (Figure 2, S) where the extension cle is ttched to the terminl lock on the side of the reel. Dispose of the old cle. 7. On the tringle ssemly, inspect the drive pin (1/8 x 1 1/4 hrdened roll pin inserted in the hu of the reel) nd the contct points. These prts re sometimes dmged when n uncontrolled reel cle recoils. 3 Greer Compny Crne Systems INSTALLING THE NEW CABLE REFER TO FIGURES 1 AND Strting t the oom hed, thred the end of the extension cle (O) from the nti Two-Block switch t the oom hed through ll cle guides nd into the hole inside of the reel. Crimp #6 ring terminl with core (U) on the center strnd of the cle. Crimp second ring terminl to the shield (T). Put the cle under one pir of screws or in the P clip (H), s originlly instlled. Crimp the ring terminl to shield (T), then to the mounting screw on the terminl lock, or s originlly instlled. Crimp the ring terminl to core (U), then to the remining terminl. NOTE: When disssemling these prts, note tht on newer reels oth ring terminls re isolted from ground/mounting screws. 3. Unroll the remining coil of cle. Ly the coil out s stright s possile s fr s it will go. Rotte the connector until there re no loops or twists in the cle ll the wy to the reel guide (Q). NOTE: The cle must ly out stright nd flt to ensure tht it will wind evenly on the reel. 4. Turning the extension reel clockwise, wind the cle onto the reel. c Use the reel terminl lock (R) s hndle to rotte the wheel. Rotte clockwise to spool the cle onto the reel. Hve helper wipe the dust off of the cle s it winds onto the reel. Guide the cle onto the reel so tht it lys tightly nd evenly side-y-side s the reel turns clockwise (out 12 or 13 turns). 5. When the first lyer of cling hs spooled onto the reel, spry it hevily with silicone oil. Spool on the second lyer of cling nd spry it hevily with silicone oil. When redy to wind on the third lyer, tie the ends of 10 foot string to the cle plug (N) nd to the nti Two-Block switch plug (not shown). c Wind the cle on until the string is tight. NOTE: This will provide 3 to 4 pre-tension turns nd will ensure tht the cle is lwys tight. 6. Slip Tiller rope clmp (P) onto the cle t the reel guide (Q). Leve it loose enough so tht the cle cn slide through. c Pull out 12 feet of cle off the reel. Hold the cle firmly nd set the clmp t the reel guide (Q) to keep the cle from retrcting. Return to the oom hed nd nchor the cle exctly s it hd een in the originl instlltion. 4 Greer Compny Crne Systems NOTE: Ensure tht there is enough slck (out 6 inch loop) in the cle to connect the cle to the nti Two-Block switch. 7. Remove the clmp nd spry the top lyer of cling with silicone oil. 8. At the oom hed, pull out 6 to 12 feet of extension reel cle to ensure tht it unwinds smoothly. 9. While service ssistnt monitors the cle t the reel, slowly extend the oom to full length. NOTE: A minimum of 2 full turns should still remin on the reel. 10 Slowly retrct the oom. Wtch the cle closely s it rewinds to ensure tht the lyering is smooth, uniform, nd level. Spry more oil on the cle s it retrcts. NOTE: If it is necessry to help the rewinding process so tht the cle wire is level, slowly, fully extend nd retrct the oom severl times. If ll twists were removed efore winding the cle on the reel, the cle should rewind smoothly. 11. If there is excess cle (there cn e 3 full lyers) on the reel when the oom is retrcted, wrp the excess cle on the wire nchor post t the oom hed. 12. For reels with extension sensors, the potentiometer (G) must e reset s follows: c Fully retrct the oom. Turn the ger tht is ttched to the lue extension potentiometer fully counterclockwise. Turn the ger clockwise 3 clicks (pproximtely 1/4 turn). Check the indictor on the disply for the correct oom length. If no length is displyed fter 3 clicks clockwise, turn the ger one more click nd check the disply. If there is still no response fter totl of 6 clicks, the potentiometer my e dmged.
