The inmate can release his/her prperty t anyne they chse including their attrney, public defender, prbatin fficer r casewrker. The lcatin f the prperty t be picked-up is prvided by the inmate. The persn picking up the prperty will need t prvide a valid gvernment issued picture identificatin card (ID), such as a Department f Mtr Vehicles (DMV) identificatin card/driver s license that is current and valid. An Immigratin card (wrk visa card, r resident alien card) presented with a DMV card is acceptable. Picture ID s made at swap meets, r stre ID cards like Sam s Club are nt valid ID s. Prir t the inmates transfer t DOC (Department f Crrectins) inmates are encuraged t fill ut a DOC RELEASE FORM which allws prperty items t be released t anyne that cmes in and asks fr it, r they may list a specific persn fr it t be released t. If their items are nt picked up in 10 days, then the prperty is sent fr destructin. Inmates can release all the mney in an inmate accunt withut apprval up t 72 hurs after bking. Requests fr a mney release after 72 hurs in custdy must be apprved by the Jail Cmmander r his designee. 2. Hw t Place Mney n the Bks f an Inmate TuchPay kisks currently accept Cash and Visa/Mastercard and funds are usually psted within 1 hur t the inmate's accunt. There is a fee fr this service. Medicatin Questins Individuals wh are arrested, currently under a Dctr s care, and are taking prescribed medicatin need t advise the medical staff upn initial bking, f the types and dsages f medicatin, such as insulin, diabetic, and bld pressure medicatin, and s n. Medicatin frm hme r purchased utside f the jail will nt be accepted in the facility fr the inmate t cnsume. It is extremely imprtant the inmate infrm the medical staff f all medicatin that is taken n a daily basis t in sure that required medicatin is rdered frm ur medical pharmacy, and dispensed accrdingly. 4. Marriage in Jail Yu will need t cntact the jail cmmander at least 60 days in advance f the planned marriage date. 5. Intake/Release Prcedures The Office prcesses plice custdy bkings f a persn at the Furth Avenue Jail, lcated at Madisn Street and Furth Avenue in dwntwn Phenix. Questins regarding initial arrest f an inmate shuld be directed t the arresting agency. Inmates are given access t a telephne t place cllect calls as needed. All curt-rdered selfsurrenders are prcessed at the Lwer Buckeye Jail, lcated at 3250 West Lwer Buckeye Rad, at the east end f the building. Page 1

2 RELEASE PROCESS: Inmates are released at the Furth Avenue Jail if hused there r at the Lwer Buckeye Jail (east end) if hused at the Lwer Buckeye Jail, the Durang Jail, the Estrella Jail, the Twers Jail r the Tents. Inmates have access t place a cllect call in rder t ntify f pending release. 6. Fd Stamps If yu are receiving fd stamps under the name f yur incarcerated lved ne, yu must apply fr them yurself in rder t cntinue receiving them. Fr infrmatin, call the DES custmer service number fr Fd Stamps: DES is the Department f Ecnmic Security. Yu will hear a menu: Optin 5 will give yu the lcatin f the ffice nearest where yu live, where yu may apply in rder t receive fd stamps. 7. Eye Glasses Inmates wh are bked withut their prescriptin eyeglasses will need t submit an Inmate Request Frm requesting permissin frm the Jail Cmmander r Medical Staff t have them brught in frm hme. Only plastic frame glasses and n tinted lenses will be allwed (tint-unless medically apprved), eye glasses with brken frames r brken lenses will nt be accepted. Inmates may purchase Reading Glasses frm the Canteen. Indigent Inmates may request ne free pair frm Canteen. Check with jail visitatin staff fr further Jail Cmmander instructins r restrictins. 8. Clergy The public may cntact , the Chaplain s Office, fr infrmatin n clergy visitatin. 9. Car Impunds If the vehicle that the individual (inmate) was driving was impunded (taken t a strage lt) yu must cntact the arresting agency fr infrmatin as t where the vehicle is lcated. Unless the arrested the subject, we d nt have this infrmatin n file. 10. Bnds & Fines Bnds and fines may be paid at the Furth Avenue Jail Bnd & Fine rm lcated n the nrth west crner f the building. After Bnd is paid, it may take up t 24 hurs fr an inmate s release t be prcessed. Please nte: If an inmate has an Immigratin hld r any ther law enfrcement agency hld, paying the bnd will nt release the inmate. If yu have questins, yu may call Sheriff s Infrmatin Management Services (SIMS), at , prir t paying a bnd. If yu d nt knw the bking number, please prvide the persn s full name and date f birth. Once a bnd payment is accepted, NO REFUNDS will be given. Any financial transactins ver $10,000 will require yu t prvide yur scial security number in rder t cmplete the transactin. This is a requirement f the Internal Revenue Service. If yu d nt wish t give yur scial security number, yur transactin will nt be cmpleted. Acceptable means f payment are US Currency, a Cashier s Check (fficial check), subject t verificatin, a U.S. Pstal Mney Order, a Western Unin Mney Order r credit card. Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discver cards are accepted. There is a prcessing fee fr all credit card transactins. Credit card transactin must be less than $10,000, including the prcessing fee. Transactins abve this amunt must be paid by ther acceptable means. These must be made ut t the Maricpa Cunty. 3 Remte Visit: A vide visit cnducted ver the internet thrugh the use f a visitr s hme cmputer and a vide kisk lcated in the inmate husing units. Absent exigent circumstances, the number f Remte Visits an inmate may receive is unlimited, based upn time-slt availability. The at-hme Visitrs are required t pay a fee fr this type f visit. Remte visits may be scheduled daily between 7 A.M. and 9:30 P.M. Each Remte visit sessin is 20 minutes. On-Site Visit: A vide visit cnducted thrugh the use f a visitr vide kisk lcated at the Lwer Buckeye Jail r the 4 th Avenue Jail and a vide kisk lcated in the inmate husing units. Inmates are eligible t receive ne free On-Site Visit per week. Visitrs will cnduct their visit frm ne f the tw listed jails, regardless f which jail the inmate is currently hused in. On-Site visits may be scheduled daily between 9 A.M. and 4:30 P.M, excluding hlidays. Each On-Site visit sessin is 20 minutes. IMPORTANT: In rder t cnduct a visit, whether remte r On-Site, inmate friends and family members must create an accunt and schedule their visit a minimum f 24 hurs in advance by ging t the website: An individual wh is n parle, prbatin, any type f wrk release, has been incarcerated during the last twelve mnths, r has ever been cnvicted f a felny, is nt permitted t cnduct an On-Site visits within any Office jail. If yu chse the On-Site visit ptin: Chse which jail at which yu wish t cnduct yur visit, either the 4 th Avenue Jail r the Lwer Buckeye Jail. Yu must select ne f these tw sites regardless f which jail the inmate is currently assigned. A dress cde is strictly enfrced at each MCSO jail and is psted in the jails. In general, dress cnservatively. VISIT SESSION : When yu schedule yur On-Site visit n the abve listed website, yu will receive an verificatin cntaining yur assigned visit terminal and a six-digit PIN number. Yu are required t bring this infrmatin with yu t the jail. VALID IDENTIFICATION: Yu must pssess a valid frm f identificatin t enter the jail. Children ages 14 thrugh 17 need t prvide a current and valid ID card, such as schl issued ID, DMV ID card r a driver s license. Children under 14 d nt need prf f ID. VISITATION LOCKERS: Yu will nt be allwed t enter the visitatin rm with any persnal items, including jewelry, sunglasses, cell phne, wallets, purses, bks, etc. These items must be secured in a lcker (fee required) lcated in the visitatin lbby. All bks must be sftback paper nly. Bk cvers with any ther materials such as, but nt limited t, hard cvers, leather, et cetera, as well as spiral bund publicatins are prhibited. All bks must be accmpanied by a shipping manifest r invice. An inmate may nly pssess 3 bks, 5 magazines and 1 newspaper at any ne time. Publicatins that may pse a threat t the safety r security f the jail, r are prngraphic in nature, are prhibited. Inmates will be prvided a Rejectin Ntificatin fr all items determined t be unacceptable, prhibited r exceeds the maximum limit. PHOTOGRAPHS: An inmate may nly pssess 5 phtgraphs at any ne time and may be mailed t the inmate, prvided the envelpe is clearly marked PHOTOGRAPHS. The envelpe cannt cntain anything ther than the phtgraphs r it will be rejected. Phtgraphs may nt be larger than 4 inches by 6 inches. The inmate s name and bking number must be written n the back f each phtgraph t shw wnership. Nthing else is t be written n the phtgraphs. Phtgraphs must be therwise cmpletely unadulterated. Inmates are permitted t release phtgraphs via US Mail, which then permits them t receive a like amunt f phtgraphs. Phtgraphs depicting nudity, weapns, criminal activity, r gang references are als prhibited. Inmates will be prvided a Rejectin Ntificatin fr all items determined t be unacceptable, prhibited r exceeds the maximum limit. 13. Child Custdy and C.P.S. Invlvement When a persn/parent/guardian is arrested, the arresting fficer (plice) will attempt t lcate a natural parent r relative, where the child/children can be taken. When n relative is lcated, Child Prtective Services (CPS) will be cntacted. Page 4
