Department Update [Eggleston] Department of Labor Ruling/FLSA [Huckstep] A Consent Agenda is provided. RECEIVED Chief Eggleston moved to approve and accept the Consent Agenda as prepared and presented. Chief Smythers seconded the motion. APPROVED No report. Nauman: Post & file 24 May 2006 Action Letters & Minutes. Apparatus Specifications 1. Tanker Specifications Chief Brown inquired if an equipment list for tankers has been adopted by ACFRAB. Mr. Moore stated that he believes it is still an open issue. By conclusion of meeting, Mr. Moore reported that the tanker equipment list has been adopted by ACFRAB. DISCUSSION 2. Brush Truck Specifications None 3. Ambulance Specifications Type III ambulance specifications are provided as a fourth reading for action. RECEIVED Parties have had an opportunity to provide feedback; however, time is still needed to evaluate. POSTPONED 4. Engine Specifications None Moore: Determine if tanker equipment list is still an outstanding issue.

4 CIP Budget An executive summary and draft CIP are provided as a second reading for action. RECEIVED Chief Oprandy stated that the only difference in the spreadsheet from the last meeting is a correction of a cell calculation error and the addition of the FM Support vehicle as part of the CIP request; the vehicle had inadvertently been left out. DISCUSSION Chief Smythers moved to add exercise equipment replacement to the list of CIP project requests. Chief Eggleston seconded the motion. APPROVED Chief Smythers moved to accept the CIP requests as amended. Chief Haugh seconded the motion. APPROVED Department Update 1. Northern Station: Chief Eggleston provided an update on the construction process and schedule for Station Personnel: Chief Eggleston reported that additional personnel will be hired 10 July. 3. Fire Instructor: Chief Eggleston announced that Matt Reed has been hired to fill the training instructor vacancy. Department of Labor Ruling/FLSA Chief Huckstep expressed a desire to pressure the Department of Labor for a ruling on career personnel volunteering in the County. DISCUSSION Chief Hood stated that a City/County merger would create an even larger problem. Chief Stephens stated that the committee studying the potential merger is aware of the impact of the volunteers in the system. 5 Finance/Budget Committee Adjournment Chief Oprandy discussed the budget planning calendar and the continuing budget process. Chief Oprandy stated that ACFRAB is on schedule thus far. The Finance/Budget Committee is looking for feedback on list of strategic initiatives for FY Feedback on the list of initiatives and ideas or additional needs will be addressed at the committee s next meeting on Tuesday, 18 July. The following strategic initiatives are under consideration for the next budget process: 1. Personnel for East Rivanna 2. Personnel for Station 13 (Pantops) 3. Battalion Chief (continuation of BC program from 2007) 4. Budget/Management Analyst 5. Instructor 6. EMT course funding 7. Apparatus maintenance program 8. Lawn care services for volunteer stations 9. Turn out gear replacement funding (additional funding to existing program) Chairman Stephens adjourned the meeting at 2100 Hours.
