CALL MEETING TO ORDER & ROLL CALL Mayor Lein called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M. Council Members Evenski, Szaroletta, Bruss and Lenzen were present. Also present: City Administrator Jesse Dickson and City Clerk Michelle Morrison. 2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE 3. ADOPT AGENDA Mayor Lein asked to amend the consent agenda to add item g. Liquor License for Cologne Fire Relief Assn April 27. Motion by Council Member Evenski to adopt the amended agenda. Second by Council Member Bruss. Motion carried unanimously. 4. Temp Liquor License After addressing questions, a motion was made by Council Member Szaroletta to adopt the consent agenda. Second by Council Member Evenski. Motion carried unanimously. 6. COUNCIL BUSINESS a. Village 17th Private Road Name After discussion Council Member Evenski made a motion to name the road Park View Lane. Second by Council Member Szaroletta. Motion carried unanimously. 7. ANNOUNCEMENTS a. MNDoT Highway 36 Public Meeting Mayor Lein updated the council about developments with Highway 36/212 intersection and shared that a Public Meeting is scheduled for Wednesday March 6 th at 4:30 P.M. 8. ADJOURN Motion by Council Member Evenski to adjourn at 7:22. Second by Council Member Bruss. Motion carried unanimously. 14 CITY OF COLOGNE RESOLUTION NO RESOLUTION ACCEPTING DONATIONS WHEREAS, The City of Cologne, Minnesota, is generally authorized to accept donations of real and personal property pursuant to Minnesota Statutes Section for the benefit of its citizens, and is specifically authorized to accept gifts and bequests for the benefit of the City of Cologne and its citizens pursuant to Minnesota Statutes Section ; and WHEREAS, The following persons and entities have offered to contribute the cash amounts set forth below to the City: Name of Donor Amount Cologne Fire Department Relief Association $3, Jerome Peichel $25.00 WHEREAS, The Cologne Fire Department Relief Association is donating $3,930 to the City of Cologne, and Jerome Peichel is donating $25.00 to the City of Cologne; and WHEREAS, The CFDRA is requesting the full amount be used to offset future Benton Lake cleanup efforts, and Jerome Peichel is requesting the full amount be used for general Fire Department expenditures; and WHEREAS, The City Council finds that this is appropriate, and the City will accept this donation. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF COLOGNE, MINNESOTA, AS FOLLOWS: 1. The donations described above are accepted and shall be used for the purposes described. 2. The City Administrator is hereby directed to issue receipts to each donor the City s receipt acknowledging of the donor s donation. 20 MEMORANDUM TO: FROM: Mayor Matt Lein & City Council Members Jesse Dickson, City Administrator SUBJECT: CA Parking Lot Lights DATE: 2/14/2019 Background: Please Find attached an sent to the City regarding lights in the shared parking lot: Hi, I am sending an to several of you because 1) I didn t know who to send it to and 2) it is an important matter that has gone on far too long. At Cologne Academy they have a parking lot that is for employees during the day and for events after school. This parking lot, we are told, is owned by the city. This parking lot does not have any lights in it. Several of CA events end, or even begin, when it is dark. This leaves a lot of kids and parents walking to and from cars with no lights in a completely dark parking lot. There is a huge chance that someone, possibly a kid, could get hit by a car. The headlights on a car only do so much. And, let s be honest, they only work so well. You will not be able to see a kid running up aside of you or behind you, until it is too late. It is unfortunate that this is the case and I hope that it can be resolved. It is a huge liability for the city, who owns the property. If someone was to get hit and injured, the city would be the ones paying for it. Especially now that many have voiced their concerns. I hope this matter can be taken seriously as it is the children that are of most concern. They need a safe place. Please let us know what can be done about this.
