1 LUCAS LOCAL BOARD OF EDUCATION REGULAR BOARD MEETING April 3, 2018 Lucas Middle School Media Center 6:00 p.m. District Mission Statement: The mission of the Lucas Local School District is to prepare well-rounded, lifelong learners who are able to meet life s challenges. The Board of Education of the Lucas Local School District met for the Regular Board Meeting on April 3, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. in the Lucas Middle School Media Center. President Timothy Cooper called the Regular Meeting to order. All in attendance recited the Pledge of Allegiance. Roll call was taken and the following members were present: Mr. Timothy Cooper, Mr. Roger Maglott, Mr. Jon Parman, Mr. Joshua Schell, and Mr. James Sgambellone. Mr. Joe Marsano and Mrs. Jackie Rhodes demonstrated the Wilson Reading System designed for students who have difficulty decoding breaking works apart Upon Motion by Mr. Cooper and seconded by Mr. Schell, the Board moved into Executive Session to discuss the employment and compensation of a public employee at 6:23 p.m Upon Motion by Mr. Cooper and seconded by Mr. Parman, the Board resumed the Regular Session at 8:09 p.m Upon Motion by Mr. Maglott and seconded by Mr. Parman, the Board adopted the Agenda as amended Upon Motion by Mr. Maglott and seconded by Mr. Sgambellone, the Minutes of the Regular Board Meeting of March 6, 2018 were approved Upon Motion by Mr. Parman and seconded by Mr. Maglott, the March 2018 Monthly Finance Reports were approved.

2 Mr. Herman updated the Board: New Requirement, all staff need CPR/AED training before June 30, 2018 Mrs. Case New Drop Off Procedures Mr. Lifer updated the Board: Discussed the Five-Year Forecast Upon Motion by Mr. Parman and seconded by Mr. Schell, Nauny Moritz Food Service, will be issued a one year contract for the school year Upon Motion by Mr. Parman and seconded by Mr. Sgambellone, the Board approved the Supplemental Contract for Paige Deal as a Tutor Not to exceed 50 hours for the school year Upon Motion by Mr. Schell and seconded by Mr. Sgambellone, the board approved all Supplemental contracts be non-renewed upon completion of their responsibilities and duties at the end of the school year. POSITION PERSON BOARD APPROVAL Tutor (not to exceed 50 hours) Paige Deal 04/03/ Upon Motion by Mr. Parman and seconded by Mr. Maglott, the Board approved revised Board Policy IICC-R, Lucas Local School District Volunteer Application Upon Motion by Mr. Maglott and seconded by Mr. Schell, the board approved the following graduating seniors for the school year. Such approval is contingent upon the student s satisfactory completion of all school and state requirements and obligations. Edward Shafer Upon Motion by Mr. Maglott and seconded by Mr. Schell, the Board approved the agreement between North Central State College and Lucas Local Schools to enter into a school-college partnership to provide higher education opportunities to qualified learners within the district Upon Motion by Mr. Parman and seconded by Mr. Cooper, the Board approved N-ovation Technology Group s Purchase Contract for Network Improvement services for Lucas Local School District. NTG fully understands the execution of this contract agreement is contingent upon securing E-Rate funding Upon Motion by Mr. Parman and seconded by Mr. Sgambellone, the Board approved Lucas Local Schools to purchase three (3) WS-C2960X-48FPD-L switches at $3, each, six (6) GLC-SX-MMD transceivers at $ each and four (4) SFP-GE-T-AX transceivers at $68.00 each, total purchase $10, Provision: If the District s funding request is denied, the District is not required to purchase the equipment and the agreement is void Upon Motion by Mr. Schell and seconded by Mr. Parman, the Board approved the agreement between Lucas Local School District and the Richland County Board of Developmental Disabilities to provide quality preschool services to children within Richland County. This agreement shall be commencing on December 18, 2017 and terminating June 30, Upon Motion by Mr. Maglott and seconded by Mr. Cooper, Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week May 7-11, 2018 Proclamation was adopted.

4 Upon Motion by Mr. Parman and seconded by Mr. Schell, the Board accepted the Varsity Football donation of $1, given by Jason and Megan Day Upon Motion by Mr. Schell and seconded by Mr. Cooper, the Board approved the Type IV Transportation reimbursement for the school year per ORC / to the following parents transporting their students to the indicated private school: Chad/Tamara Griffey for Kaitlyn & Faith Griffey Ashland Christian School Jerry Snay for Jacob Snay St. Edward School Mr. Parman No Upon Motion by Mr. Maglott and seconded by Mr. Schell, the Board approved Richard Hauger as Volunteer Assistant Varsity Baseball Coach (pending coaching certifications) for the school year. INFORMATION AND PROPOSALS Business Advisory Council Nothing to report. RECOGNITION OF VISITORS There were no visitors. ITEMS FROM INDIVIDUAL BOARD MEMBERS Upon Motion by Mr. Cooper and seconded by Mr. Maglott, the Board approved to amend the contract of High School Principal/Athletic Director Eric Teague to include Assistant Varsity Wrestling supplemental contract for the school year at a one-third rate. Mr. Cooper A letter regarding Pipe Line Construction Traffic was dropped off at his house he shared it with the Board. Mr. Schell Any thought about a Barrier north/south along sidewalk to keep cars off walk away from students? Mr. Maglott Using soy diesel? Mark not using it too expensive no fuel conditioner being used either. 20% soy blended with other diesel fuel. Mr. Parman Mr. Radd had 3 students go to the science competitions at Ashland University on March 24 th.

5 Upon Motion by Mr. Cooper and seconded by Mr. Schell, the Board adjourned from Regular Session at 8:47 p.m. Certificate Section , Revised Code It is hereby certified that the Lucas Local School District Board of Education, Richland County, Ohio, has sufficient funds to meet the contract agreement, obligation, payment or expenditure for the above, and has in effect for the remainder of the fiscal year and succeeding fiscal year the authorization to levy taxes which, when combined with the estimated revenue from all other sources available to the district at the time of certification, are sufficient to provide operating revenues necessary to enable the district to operate an adequate educational program on all days set forth in its adopted school calendar for the current fiscal year and for a number of days in the succeeding fiscal year equal to the number of days instruction was or is scheduled for the current fiscal year.
