6 2014 Appointments to Civic Agencies, Boards and Committees REPORT Background/Context Children, Youth and Families Advisory Committee The Children, Youth and Families Advisory Committee (CYFA) is a new committee created in spring 2013; it replaces the Family Court/Youth Justice Committee. As part of its mandate, CYFA operates as a family court committee under the BC Provincial Court Act ( the Act ). Under the Act, members are appointed for one-year terms. For consistency and to make the appointment process easier, members are generally appointed for terms beginning January 1 and ending December 31 of each year. Following the creation of the CYFA in spring 2013, current members were appointed in June 2013 with terms to start immediately and end December 31, CYFA members met for the first time in October The Nomination Subcommittee is recommending reappointment for current members so members may continue the work they have just started. Other Type A Committees As directed by the Nomination Subcommittee, the City Clerk s Office requested that the Persons with Disabilities, Multicultural, Women s, LGBTQ, Urban Aboriginal Peoples Advisory Committees and the Vancouver Food Policy Council submit candidates for consideration for appointment to fill existing vacancies. The recommendations contained in this report reflect the appointments requested by the Committees. Implications/Related Issues/Risk (if applicable) Financial There are no financial implications. CONCLUSION The Nomination Subcommittee recommends approval of the foregoing. * * * * *
