GREENBOOK COMMITTEE MEETING NOTICE July 17, 2014 The regular meeting of the Public Works Standards, Inc., Greenbook Committee will be held at 9:30 A.M., Thursday, July 17, 2014 in the Associated General Contractors Offices, 1906 West Garvey Avenue South Suite No. 100, West Covina, CA, Members are encouraged to send their alternate, or a proxy, if they cannot attend. Co-Chairman s Report: Erik Updyke reported the following: 1) Erik asked BNi to begin work on 2015 Edition due to extent of revisions. 2) On August 28, 2014, Coachella Branch of APWA will host Greenbook Seminar at Coachella Valley Water District in Palm Desert. There are 5 seats remaining if anyone is interested. b. Secretary s Report:

New Materials and Methods Underground Subcommittee Report: Curt Gilley reported the following: 1) Met on June 17, 2014 two sessions scheduled. 2) Change No. 242NU (Water Pipeline Construction) Completed review. 3) Part 5 Review continues. 4) Change No. 266NU (Polypropylene Pipe) Continued review. The next Underground Subcommittee meeting will be on July 15, 2014 at 11:00 am at AGCC. f. New Materials and Methods Surface Subcommittee Report: Javier Soto reported the following: 1) Asphalt Task Force: a) No meeting in June b) Next meeting on July 2, ) Concrete Ad Hoc: a) Met on June 12, b) Change No. 246NS (Alkali-Silica Reactions) Evaluating increasing fly ash content to 25% and additional days for compressive strength. c) Lightweight Cellular Grouting and Concrete Fill Drafting proposal. d) Type K Cement Drafting proposal. e) Next meeting on August 14, ) Stabilized Base Task Force: a) Met on June 3, b) Change No. 225NS (Stabilized Pulverized Base) Working on lime treated base specifications. c) Next meeting on July 1, ) (Clearing and Grubbing) Task Force: a) Met on May 14, b) Reviewing pertinent specifications from various agencies (i.e., Brown Book, CalTrans, Grey Book, Pasadena and San Diego). c) Next meeting tentatively on July 16, 2014 to schedule around Specifications Subcommittee meeting. 5) Surface Subcommittee: a) Met on June 17, 2014.

5 b) Flexible Metal Guard Rail (Section ) Subcommittee is recommending deletion of the subsection and replacing with Not Used. c) Stone for Rip Rap (Section ) Under review. The next Surface Subcommittee meeting will be on July 15, 2014 at 9:30 am at AGCC. g. Specifications Subcommittee Report: Nelson Nelson reported the following: 1) Met on June 18, ) Change No. 236S (CCTV Inspection, Section ) To be applicable to all pipeline facilities, not just sewers. 3) Section 6-9 (Liquidated Damages) Subcommittee not recommending any changes. 4) Next meeting on July 16, h. Standard Plans Subcommittee Report: i. Special Provisions Guide Subcommittee Report: j. Editorial Standards Subcommittee Report: Erik Updyke reported the following: 1) Met on June 18, ) The following changes were approved and will be submitted to Greenbook Committee for 30-dy hold and review at June 19, 2014 meeting, along with Change No. 164NS (Soil Cement and Cement- Treated Base), with a vote to be scheduled at July 17, 2014 meeting: a. Change No. 263NS (Chip Seal Revisions) b. Change No. 249NS (Asphalt Concrete) 3) Change No. 242NU (Water Pipeline Construction) Under review. k. Other New Business: In transition from WebEx to Go-To-Meeting. Working to complete transition by next meeting. Polypropylene Pipe R. Tripp raised concerns regarding information submitted as supporting documentation for Change No. 266NU. There are discrepancies between performance standards listed in manufacturer s product brochure and results of actual testing. It is recommended that this discrepancy be clarified as Change No. 266NU is being considered.
