General Studies Program Modifications consent agenda This group has discussed the need to review and possibly revise the existing requirements of the three General Studies AA degrees. A. Martinez and R. Stein provided the history that these were created quickly via committee to encompass all the GE courses without much consideration of data or focus of study. A review of the data on what courses students use to meet the requirements of the degrees would be a good first step to determine how these programs are functioning. A subcommittee was formed to review this data and the courses contained in each degree. Work Group Members: *FUSILERO, Jordan, Stein, Martinez, and Cohen - *Group Chair) Discussion of how new courses should be considered and added to the degrees will follow after the existing degrees are discussed and possibly revised. It would streamline the process to make this review and vote occur without needing extensive paperwork for every course being added. Possibly pool all requests to be considered once a semester or once a year? In regards to Psych 52, which was requested to be added to the General Studies: Social Science AA, it was decided to check if the course is included in the degree submitted to the State Inventory it is not and so will not be added to the degree until the workgroup meets and makes recommendations to be acted upon in Fall E. DCC updates nothing to report F. PEPC updates a. Approved Discontinuance of AA in Anthropology b. Approved the formation of new E.S.L. Department, separate from English Department
