WG12 N 174) No. Action Items Results John will provide the new version of ISO/WD including rewriting the scope of ISO/WD by removing some content and inserting John has already provided the new version by June. Report of the convener on the status of current projects Elaine gave a presentation to introduce the status of the three standards of WG For 16762, it is at stage, NWI&CD voting now. The vote will be closed on Jan. 14, Because ISO/WD is being balloted, the content of the document cannot be changed. Therefore, it will be discussed at the next meeting in Bologna. 2. For 16763, it is at stage. The CD2 voting closed on August 17, 2014 and the draft was approved. There were in total 60 comments received from DE,US,SE, JP,ID. The resolution of the comments from the CD2 voting will be discussed at this meeting, and the standard will go forward to DIS voting after revision at the close of this meeting. 3. As to 19594, it is at stage, proposal for new project received. After the London meeting, the revised draft received 38 comments from CN, DE, JP, US. These comments will be resolved at this meeting. For the future, surface decoration finishing and paper carton forming (packaging item) could be considered. 7. ISO/CD Graphic technology Postpress Requirements for bound products 3

4 Lucy Liu gave a presentation of Compilation of Comments and Observations and answered questions about the revision of the current draft. Discussions were conducted around the comments and observations. Except for editorial comments, which have been accepted, the focus was on the following aspects: 1. Communication with Swedish experts so as to explain to them the different orientations, different contents and different user groups of ISO and ISO and to try to resolve the disagreements. 2. To revise some expressions and drawings in the text. 3. After the discussion, it was agreed: to remove Table 1 (cutting edge accuracy and squareness tolerances for different numbers of folds), and to describe the requirements in two sentences instead; to redraw the Figure 3; 4. To initiate a DIS vote on the revised document before the end of November. 8. After the discussion, the experts at the meeting agreed the resolution of all the comments. There were two further issues were raised: 1. Patent issue clarification: Chinese and Japanese experts raised questions about the patent right issue in using this standard. Fogra experts confirmed that there is no such issue in this case and everyone is free to use the knowhow given in the standard. Fogra experts confirmed that the development of this standard is not intended to dominate the market; it is just to put the research result into practice and to give people a more reliable method for testing perfect-binding quality. Florian and Uwe will prepare a working draft of for the NWI voting. 9. Discussion of NWI proposals (written proposals invited) No new work item was proposed. 4

Requirements concerning the future meeting It was agreed that one and a half days should be requested for the meeting in Italy in May Any other business None. 13. Closing of the meeting Elaine thanked SAC/TC 170 for hosting the meeting in Beijing and also thanked all attendees for their contributions at the meeting, The meeting closed at 6:00 p.m. 5
