2 What is CIDOB? 40 years of international studies in Barcelona CIDOB is an independent and plural think tank based in Barcelona, dedicated to the study, research and analysis of international affairs. Created in 1973 as an International Documentation Centre of Barcelona, it is a private foundation since CIDOB is a dynamic community of analysts that works to produce and offer to all political actors from individual citizens to international organisations information and ideas to help formulate and promote policies for a more secure, free and fair world for everyone.

8 European funding The MENARA project, led by CIDOB and IAI, analyses the drivers of change for the regional order in the Middle East and North Africa and the implications of those geopolitical shifts for Europe. The SAHWA project, led by CIDOB, aims to analyse youth prospects and perspectives in a context of multiple social, economic and political transitions in five Arab countries CIDOB s Europe for Citizens programme aims to promote indepth thinking and active citizens involvement with regards to European integration debates and the EU s role in the world. The European Web Site on Integration (EWSI) is a portal, which serves to share information and best practices of all member states of the European Union on the integration of immigrants.

9 European funding CIDOB participates as a partner in the FEUTURE project that will analyse the Future of EU-Turkey relations. CIDOB participates as a partner in MEDRESET, a project that aims to re-invigorating the partnership between the two shores of the Mediterranean. The NIEM project aims to mainstream an integration evaluation mechanism into the integration policies for refugees and beneficiaries of international protection at the national level. It covers sixteen Member States. Marie Curie fellowships The TRANSOLAR project (Transition to solar energy in the Mediterranean) examines the processes of socio-technical transition to solar energy in the Mediterranean region. The RUDEFOPOS-IRAQ project (Rural Development, Food Security and Political Stability in Iraq) analyses current challenges of food security in Iraq.

10 Other projects The Mercator European Dialogue is a network of EU parliamentarians, providing MPs the unique opportunity to exchange ideas on the future of Europe, share national concerns on a European level and better understand emerging trends. The STAP RP project (Sources of Tension in Afghanistan & Pakistan: Regional Perspectives policy research project ( ), funded by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, explores the main sources of tension in Afghanistan and Pakistan and the roles of regional actors in this regard. Wise Cities is a pioneer urban-based project led by a global network of think tanks and research institutions aimed at providing responses to the challenges of sustainable and inclusive development.
