Over the past 20+ years or so, the control and enforcement had gotten so bad, that it was totally out of control. Today, we are struggling to get it back under control. A great number of us come from parents that immigrated from other countries. Mostly all followed the process that brought with it legal USA citizenship. My mother came from Ireland and went through the process to get her citizenship like millions of other immigrants before and after her. In fact, even today millions of people are following the law of the land and abide by our Immigration Laws. So, what give others the right to jump ahead of the line and illegally bypass those that are going through the legal process? The answer is easy. Nothing gives them the right. In my opinion, they are Illegal aliens, and they are not undocumented immigrants. What an incredible shifty move by the left to put a more respectable spin on it. The reason is simple. The Democrats want their support. Their strategy is to obscure the illegal conduct of those that violate our immigration laws. They position it that if you are for enforcing immigration laws, you are against Immigration. The enforcement of immigration law is NOT an anti-immigrant policy. If you take the outrageous position of California in permitting Sanctuary Cities, it is blandly against Federal Law. It is about time that the Justice Department is challenging them. It is undeniable that countless criminals are being protected by their Take the case of Luis Bracamontes, who was an illegal immigrant and who shot and killed two California sheriff deputies in cold blood, then at his trial said if he had a chance, he would kill more cops. I submit California should hang its head in shame. I ask you, How did California s Sanctuary Cites position help those slain officers? They now leave behind shattered grieving families, and Bracmontes will be on death row for years and years. What we need to do is demand California eliminates Sanctuary Cities and follows the laws of the USA, or be penalized by removal of Federal funding. Either you are with us or against us. It s that simple. They are a turnstile for illegals. If arrested, then released, you end up with felons like Bracamontes. We need to enforce our laws equally across the land. We hope President Trump continues his efforts to apply the needed pressure on states that violate Federal law. After all, we are Making America Great Again. To me, that also means getting back to enforcing our laws. Remember, we are truly blessed to be living in America, but it is our responsibility to hand it over to future generations in better shape than we got it. That s why we are Republicans. I hope you and your families all had a Blessed and Happy Easter. Gene Murtha President Charlotte County Republican Club

2 Page 2 HONEY and CINNAMON Robert R McMillan If, a few weeks ago, someone said to me that you need to write a column about the word honey, I would have laughed it off. Then, my wife attended a luncheon at a local Yacht Club where the hostess expanded on the virtues of honey and cinnamon. And she even handed out a paper with the way honey and cinnamon could be used for better health. Before getting into the health issues, take a look at the origin of honeymoon. The word goes back 4,000 years to Ancient Babylon when newly married couples would drink mead, a honey based alcoholic drink, for a lunar month after marriage. Thus, evolved the word honeymoon. Next, honey was used for dressing wounds. The application of honey to a wound prevents microbial growth and it causes no tissue damage. As for the use of the word honey when talking to a loved one, the sweet relationship fits closely to the taste of honey. Now, on to the health application of honey and cinnamon. By the way, honey is the only food which does not spoil. As I got into the research about the details of honey and cinnamon, I found the health benefits almost impossible to comprehend. The list of diseases treatable by the combination goes on and on. First, it is recommended that the honey be real raw unpasteurized honey. The first incredible treatment is that a paste of cinnamon and honey on a slice of toast can actually lower cholesterol. Next, arthritis patients who take, every morning and at night, the cinnamon and honey with a glass of warm water, find that the pain leaves and those unable to walk, actually started to walk again. Even cancer can be treated. Some recent research in Japan and Australia has revealed that bone and stomach cancer have been treated successfully, through the use of cinnamon and honey. The common cold can also be treated with cinnamon and honey. The process will cure the cough and clear the sinuses. Recently, with a cough, I found that the process did help me. Beyond the above treatments, cinnamon and honey can treat skin infections, pimples, indigestion, upset stomachs, weight loss, insect bites, toothaches, and hair loss. To me, the research has just been amazing! If you want to check out some of the details and the formulas for cinnamon and honey treatments, go on line and Google cinnamon and honey. You will be surprised what you will find out beyond this column. Now, I am not a doctor and cannot authenticate these treatments. I can say that my research has come up with very interesting websites with significant supporting information. It is really up to you to follow through.

4 Editor s Notes: Page 5 There has been a covert movement underway in our country since shortly after the November 2016 election. We have seen the effect of this somewhat clandestine operation in numerous ways; from an organized resistance to virtually any and all efforts of the Trump administration to bring back a sensible approach to managing our country, to gorming a well organized, heavily financed effort to have 800,000 young people descend on Washington within days of the Parkland school shooting. This strikes of the handiwork of a George Soros and other deep pocket liberals and Democrats. This is the OFA, Organizing For Action, at work The following is an article by well known conservative editorialist Charles Krauthammer,(NY Post) defining just what the OFA is and what they seek to accomplish.charles Counsil Page 4 OFA is 30,000+ strong and working to disrupt everything that our current president s administration is trying to do. This organization goes against our democracy, and it is an operation that will destroy our way of governing. It goes against our constitution, our laws and the processes established over 200 years ago. If it allowed to proceed then we will be living in chaos very much like the third world countries are run. What good is it to have an established government if it not going to be respected and allowed to follow our laws? If you had an army some 30,000+ strong and a court system stacked over the decades with judges who would allow you to break the laws, how much damage could you do to a country? We are about to find out in America. Our ex-president said he was going to stay involved through community organizing and speak out on the issues and that appears to be one post-administration promise he intends to keep. He has moved many of his administration s top dogs over to ORGANIZING FOR ACTION OFA is behind the strategic and tactical implementation of the resistance to the Trump administration that we are seeing across America, and politically active courts are providing the leverage for the revolution.. OFA is dedicated to organizing communities for progressive change. Its issues are gun control, socialist health care, abortion, sexual equality, climate change and of course immigration reform. OFA members were propped up by the ex-president s message from the shadows: Organizing is the building block of everything great. We have accomplished organizers around the country fighting for change in their communities and OFA is one of the groups in the front lines. Commit to this work 2017 and beyond. OFA s website says it obtained its digital assets from the ex-president s re-election effort and that he inspired the movement. In short, it is the shadow government organization aimed at resisting and tearing down the constitutional republic we know as America. Paul Sperry writing for the New York Post, says the OFA will fight president Donald Trump at every turn of his presidency and the ex-president will command them from a bunker less than two miles from the White House. Sperry continues: The ex-president is setting up a shadow government to sabotage the Trump administration through a network of non=profits led by OFA, which is growing its war chest (more than $40 million) and has some 250 offices nationwide. The OFA IRS filings, according to Sperry, indicate that the OFA has 32,525 (and growing) volunteers nationwide. The ex-president and his wife will oversee the operation from their home/office in Washington DC. Think about how this works. For example: Trump issues an immigration Executive Order; the OFC singles for protests and statements from pro-immigration groups; the ACLU lawyers file lawsuits in jurisdictions where active judges have history of obstructing the law: volunteers are called to protest at airports and congressional town hall meetings; the leftist media springs to action in support of these activities; the Twitter sphere lights up with social media, and violence follows. All of this happens from the ex-president s signal that he is hearted by the protests. If Barack Obama did not do enough to destroy this country in the four years he was in office, it appears future plans are to destroy the foundation on which this country has operated for the last 241 years.

6 Page Pg. 6 2 IS TRUMP/GOP BUDGET DEFENSIBLE? Frank Mazur Is a daily $3.3 billion or $2.2 M a second federal deficit, the new spending norm? Trump and the GOP were elected to office on promises to drain the swamp, cut spending and shrink government. Growing the government 13 percent does none of these. Candidate Trump promised to get rid of the debt fairly quickly. Interest payments rose 10% from last year to $310B from last year. It s now on the path to become the fastest growing part of the budget, rising from 7% of federal spending to 21% in 10 years according to the Congressional budget office. Investing in our national defense has merit but without the offsets from the remaining budget is irresponsible fiscal policy. This increased spending will prompt government to print more bonds to pay for it and this will create upward pressure on bond yields which will affect everyone s borrowing. The Republicans only care about the deficit when they are out of power. Unless both political parties are willing to take on the challenge of limited government and less spending our current failed fiscal policies will reign supreme and leave even greater challenge for the next generation. ******************************************** As we peer into society's future, we you and I, and our government must avoid the impulse to live only for today, plundering for our own ease and convenience the precious resources of tomorrow. We cannot mortgage the material assets of our grandchildren without risking the loss also of their political and spiritual heritage. We want democracy to survive for all generations to come, not to become the insolvent phantom of tomorrow. President Dwight D. Eisenhower, Farewell Speech
