1 McHenry County Fire Chief s Association Assistant Chief Jim Kreher President Chief Wayne Amore Vice President Chief Rick Gallas Secretary Chief Jim Moore Treasurer MEETING MINUTES APRIL 5, 2010 The meeting was called to order by President, Assistant Chief Jim Kreher at 1900 hours with the Pledge of Allegiance and moment of silence. INTRODUCTION OF GUEST Sgt. Kelly Hubbard (MCSO), John Davis, (1-800 Board-Up). MINUTES OF MARCH 1, 2010 MEETING The minutes had been sent out electronically to all members. A motion was made by Chief Mlekush second by Chief Llaufer to accept the minutes. Motion passed unanimously. TREASURER S REPORT See attached Treasurer s Report for March A motion was made by Chief Bradbury and second by Chief Mlekush to accept the report as presented. Motion passed unanimously. PRESENTATION Robert Lowen McHenry County Chiefs of Police Association: Robert is the Chief of Woodstock Police. He was present to talk to us about the McHenry County Chiefs of Police Association. In many respects it is very similar to our McHenry County Fire Chief s Association. The meeting site travels around the county meeting on the 4 th Tuesday for a luncheon. Various groups / committees that Chief Lowen mention to us that are a part of his association are: Training committee, Inter-governmental Cooperation committee, Coroner, States Attorney s Office, Scholarship committee (they offer 2 per year), Memorial Committee (Honor Guard), MIAT (19 agencies participate), ETSB Board involvement. They are also involved with various civic events such as: Shop with a Cop, Back to School Event, and on August 16 they have a golf event in Bull Valley. Chief Lowen discussed a popular event that he has brought to Woodstock is his Coffee with the Chief Program. This takes place on the 2 nd Monday of every month. Different speakers are invited to talk to the group on various topics. Mostly senior citizens, he has 25 regulars that attend the event. MCC Doug Goostree. See attached report for more details. MABAS Chief Macko. Upcoming MABAS meeting is 4/21 in Marengo. MABAS has 2 GPS units per fire station in McHenry County to distribute. MABAS dues will be collected with bills going out in June. Trying to locate Mark IV kits that need to be replaced with new products that has a longer shelf life. IFCA Chief Webster: The Legislative Summit is up coming on March 24 th. Madigan is high on pension reform that police and fire could be a part of. We should heighten our awareness on these

2 reforms because they could have a major impact on the fire service. Action is moving fast on reform in Springfield so don t wait to let your opinion be known to your legislators. IAFC Chief Macko. Jeff is no longer the Great Lakes rep. Reminder to all of us that the conference is in Chicago this year, and back again in Legislative Chief Saletta: Reminder that similar to last year, the Fire Safety Alliance will be hosting a Legislative Forum on April 17, 2010 from 9am to 11am. The forum will take place at the Crystal Lake Municipal Complex. If you are planning to attend, please RSVP to Margaret before hand. CORONER, Marlene Lantz Marlene thanked Harvard Fire for some recent assistance on a coroners call. SHERIFF, Sgt. Duane Cedergren - No Report EMS Cindy AmoreGrant apps are due back by June 1 st. Usually grants under $1,000 have a good chance. During EMS Week they will have Symposium (May 5 th ). A system policy manual is forthcoming to us in PDF format. See attached report for other info. FFL Tammy Chatman. LZ kits via a grant are a no go. They are looking at a way to sell these new kits at the old price of $85. Let Tammy know if you want one. Night Vision training for the pilots is slow going. There is a dispatcher sit along with the FFL dispatch program that is forthcoming. Online satisfaction surveys are online now but will continue to fax surveys during a 60 day test. If we call for a scene response and Flight is unavailable, FFL will try to find another aircraft. If bad weather is area wide they will not get us another aircraft per their policy. FFL will have a blood drive in late summer. More info to follow. 911 Chief Saletta. April 27 th, ETSB demo of new reverse 911 options. 4 vendors have been invited. Area chiefs are invited to attend with Chief Saletta. Get a hold of Jim if you want to go. Visionaire There has been a Vision Mobile update that we should all apply to our MDB s.

3 EMA Barry Valentine: No report. PIO / Fire Prevention Chief Bradbury. Fox River Grove Chief, R. Kreher will be the new PIO representative. SRT Cynthia Tomusiak: 1 st quarter hours are out. Id s expire this month. OLD BUSINESS McHenry County Honor Guard 15 guys are in the Honor guard with monthly trainings. Mike Weber has been approved as the new Honor Guard liaison. Annual Dues Make sure you get your payments in on time. MCFC Officer Elections: Last month Chief Saletta presented the slate of officers to be elected at the April meeting. o President Deputy Chief Jim Krher Fox River Grove o Vice President Chief Jim Moore Crystal Lake o Treasurer Chief Rick Gallas Richmond o Secretary Chief Bob Bradbury Marengo Chief Saletta called to the floor 3 times if there were any other nominations to be brought forward. There were none. A motion to close nominations was made by Chief Llaufer. Motion carried on voice vote. Chief Saletta then called for a voice vote. Motion carried unanimously with no opposition voiced. Crystal Lake will be host to the TICP Drill on April 29 th. Command officers are needed. If you are able to help, please let Bob Ellsworth know. NEW BUSINESS Bystander CPR: Should your department have a positive outcome as a result of bystander CPR, please let Cindy Amore know about this so that the system can help celebrate the success Resignation: Chief Bradbury advised the association that Marengo Rescue Chief Barry Beckwith had resigned, who sends his appreciation to the association Upcoming Gold Outings: Fox River Grove June 8 th Huntley - June 21 st. Cheri Amore Memorial Golf Outing June 28 th. Marengo July 1 st. I-Chiefs July 14 th. Cary July 19 th. Hampshire July 23 rd. NUNDA - TBD COMMUNICATIONS Shawn Ahrens: A thank you was received from Shawn Ahrens for the donation that our association made to him. ANNOUCEMENTS Global / Pierce hopes to see everyone at FDIC. April 22 nd there will be a plant tour at the Ford Taurus plant in Torrence. This is associated with IFMA. Ken Caudle brought a flier for a FF outing to Kane County Cougars. See attached flyer.

7 McHenry County Fire Chiefs Association McHenry County College Fire Science Report F/F II and F/F III Update: Both classes are going along great! The F/F II class passed their Mod A exams with an 82% average. They take the OFSM Mod B exam on 4/22/10. IFSI Propane Lab: This class will be held at Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department on 5/4/10. We still have some openings for county department members. IFSI provides the instruction for this class. IFSI Light and Fight: This class for 5/22/10 is full with 28 F/F " students, 12 instructors, and 15 members from county departments. Thanks for your support! Summer 2010 FAE class at MCC: We still have openings for this class that runs from 6/2-6/26/10. Use the company sponsored course form to register your firefighters. This class is a bargain at $265! Fall 2010 Registration: Registration for the fall classes at MCC begins with currently enrolled student registration on 4/12/10. New students can begin enrolling on 5/6/10. Tuition at MCC - still the best deal around: Summer 2010 tuition is holding at $80/per semester hour. The fall semester tuition may go up by only $2/per semester hour. We are currently lower than ECC, CLC, and Harperl

8 McHenry County Fire Chiefs Association EMS Coordinator Report April 5,2010 Cindy Amore, RN, BSN IDPH Update: Legislative Update: Stroke Legislation- EMS Advisory Council moving forward with the development ofthe Stroke Advisory Board- state and regional levels Many legislative issues pending- recent introduction of Autism Education bill is being greatly opposed by the EMS and Fire Service community BLS Statewide SOP's: SOP review is complete. Adoption discussed at the March EMS Advisory Council Meeting. Policy Clarification: Requests for Inactive status must demonstrate system compliance with CE and good standing. Mental Health Board Update: There has been a change in the "Petition" form used by all healthcare providers. The change is in strengthening the language regarding the potential risk to cause harm to himselflherself or another- Language formerly included and then changed. Upcoming Meeting Dates EMS Advisory Council: Thursday, June 3, Springfield, IL- Location TBA Region IX Update: Regional Polices have been reviewed! revised as necessary and approved. EMS Assistance Grant Applications: Completed applications due to the EMS Resource Hospital by no later than June 1st. Reminder, smaller budget items seem to be more readily funded. Zoll Monitor Transmission project is complete. All EMS Agencies using Zoll monitors will be able to transmit 12 Lead ECG's by May 1,2010. Equipment for the Medtronic LP 12 transmission has been ordered. Implementation will be underway by June 1. This will bring all municipal EMS provider agencies into the 12 Lead transmission program. EMS Week 2010: EMS Week is being recognized May "Anytime, Anywhere, We'll Be There". IDPH EMS Service Awards will be presented throughout the months

9 MARENGO FIREFIGHTER'S ASSOCIATION 4th ANNUAL GOLF OUTING The Marengo Firefighter's Association is hosting our 4th annual golf outing Thursday July 1st at Marengo Ridge Golf Cou rse. The proceeds are used by the Association to purchase equipment, uniforms and to fund community programs such as scholarships for our local students. Scramble format. $60 per golfer =18 holes/cart, sandwich/drink tickets. Package deal: Golf, lunch, Mulligan's and string-- just pre-pay by June 24th for your foursome for $280.00; each golfer will get the shot at the Harley free and an entry into our early bird drawing. Golf will be a shotgun start at 12:00, registration starts at 11:00. Longest/shortest drive contests, closest to the pin, Hole in one prizes range from a new Harley ($5to qualify) to, new sets of golf clubs, Raffles (over a $ in merchandise), 50/50 drawing, Mulligan's ($20/team), string game($20/team) and trophies.
