2 Dear fellow EMS Professional, On behalf of the Illinois State Ambulance Association (ISAA) leadership, we are pleased to invite you to attend the 2018 ISAA Annual Conference. The Par-A-Dice Hotel & Casino located in East Peoria, Illinois will be holding the 2018 Conference. The 2018 ISAA Annual Conference dates are Tuesday, September 25th and Wednesday, September 26th. As in years past, this year s Conference has been planned considering the feedback from pervious Conference participants. The Conference s educational program will begin on 1pm on Tuesday and conclude at 3pm on Wednesday. The Conference will provide the opportunity to earn six hours and forty five minutes (6:45) of National Academy of Ambulance Compliance (NAAC) continuing education hours. This Annual Conference was developed to provide you the opportunity to connect with peers and gain valuable information regarding the current issues impacting the Illinois ambulance industry. The Conference program was developed to offer valuable learning opportunities which can be put to use in the daily administrative operations of your ambulance service. 4 Conference Speakers Brian Werfel, Esq. Brian S. Werfel, Esq. is a partner in Werfel & Werfel, PLLC, a New York based law firm specializing in Medicare issues related to the ambulance industry. Brian is a Medicare Consultant to the American Ambulance Association and has authored numerous articles on Medicare reimbursement, most recently on issues such as the beneficiary signature requirement, repeat admissions, and interrupted stays. Brian is co-author of the AAA s Medicare Reference Manual for Ambulance, as well as the author of the AAA s HIPPA Reference Manual. Kim Godden Kim Godden is the V.P. of Legal and Government Relations for Superior Air-Ground Ambulance Service, based in Elmhurst, IL. Ms. Godden joined Superior in In addition to overseeing government relations and regulatory compliance matters for Superior, she oversees the legal department which manages litigation, contracts, real estate, and employment matters. Kim is a board member of the American Ambulance Association, the Illinois State Ambulance Association and the Indiana EMS Association. Asbel Montes Asbel Montes is the V.P. of Reimbursement & Governmental Affairs for Acadian Ambulance Service. He began his employment with Acadian in May He oversees Acadian s revenue cycle management, contract management, business office process improvement, and governmental relations for state and federal reimbursement policy initiatives. Asbel has been a member of the American Ambulance Association (AAA) for eight years and has served on its board of directors; he is currently co-chair of the Payment Reform Steering Committee.
