PREFACE : The Committee on Ways and Means, to which was referred Bill No. 830, "An act to appro~riate the sum of Five Hundred Thousand Dollars ($500,000) to the Government Claims Fund," conducted a public hearinq on Tuesday, July 25, 1989 at 10:30 a.m. in the Leqislative Session Hall. [Attachment 21 Committee members present were Senator Ted S. Nelson, Actinq Chairman, Committee on Wavs and Means. Also present were Senators John P. Aquon, Elizabeth P. Arriola, Pilar C. Lujan, Doris F. Brooks, Martha C. Ruth, Tomrnv V.C. Tanaka and Ernesto Espaldon. NOTIFICATION: Letters of notification [Attachment 31 were sent to: the Governor; the Director, Bureau of Budqet and Manasement Research; to the Director, Department of Administration; the Attorney General; the Committee members and to the general public, and the newsmedia. TESTIMONY: Appearinq before the Committee was Mr. Michael J. ~eidy, Director, Bureau of Budqet and Manaqement Research. Mr. Reidv informed the Committee that the Administration supports Bill No. 830 and also reminded the members that the ~rovisions of Bill No. 830 were oriqinallv incor~orated into the Fiscal Year 1990 Budqet Act. There beinq no further witnesses, the Chairman, adjourned the Committee hearins on Bill No At this point, the Chairman instructed the Committee staff to preoare a report for review by the Committee.
9 SECTION ANALYSIS: Please refer to Page 3 entitled, "Profile on Substitute Bill No. 830." COMMITTEE FINDINGS: The Committee on Ways and Means, to which was referred Bill No. 830, finds that: 1. The passaqe and enactment of the a~wropriations contained in Bill No. 830 is sup~orted by the Administration. 2. The Committee on Wavs and Means havinq conducted the necessary hearings, hereby recommends that the Legislature favorably act on Substitute Bill No COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATIONS : The Committee on Wavs and Means, to which was referred Bill No. 830, "An act to appropriate the sum of Five Hundred Thousand Dollars ($500,000) from the General Fund to the Government Claims Fund effective October 1, 1989: to continue the appropriation until such sums are expended by the government: and to cite the Act as the Government Claims Fund Appropriations Act of 1989," has had the same under consideration, and now wishes to report back the same with the recommendation to do pass as substituted by the Committee.
