2 Dear Friends Neurosurgeons and Colleagues, On behalf of the Organizing Committee we are happy to announce that I am making plans to organize a Neurosurgical Winter Meeting in February 2005, in the same location where the Winter Olympic Games will take place the following year (Sestriere, Torino Italy). It will be a nice occasion to know the Italian mountains and to become familiar with the landscapes that will quite soon be present on the TV screens all over the World. In Italy, we have a long lasting tradition of Winter Ski Meetings, that are well known for the friendly atmosphere and for the very frank and direct discussion that is possible there, much more than in formal International Conventions, We would like to involve in this organization all the European Winter Neuro-Groups, particularly those from France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Scandinavia and all the other Nations. We will extend the invitation to take part to several outstanding Neurosurgeons in the USA, in Japan and in Asia. The Meeting will take place in a wonderful Village-Hotel of an Italian Tour Operator (Valtur) located exactly in Sestriere. The working hours will be 6 per day, Monday to Friday (8-10 am, 4-8 pm): each day will be devoted to a different topic (i.e.: Neurovascular, Neuroncology, Epilepsy and Functional Surgery, Spine, Skull base) and with a special attention to discussion of pitfalls; we will invite Distinguished Guests to set very high the level of scientific work. Free papers will also be presented and discussed, so that everybody will be able to take active part in the Meeting. 4 SCIENTIFIC INFORMATION CALL FOR PAPERS Scientific contributions, related to the main topics, will be considered by the Scientific Committee and accepted either for oral or poster presentation. ABSTRACTS SPECIFICATIONS The text written in English, should be essential and include: an introduction giving the background to the study, a brief account of the material and methods and a clear statement of the results. A concise discussion should be followed by a firm conclusion. A few key references may be added. It is assumed that Authors will accept restriction for ethical reasons if necessary. A short curriculum of the presenting Author is also mandatory.
