With greetings, Comradely yours, (G.Vaithianathan) General Secretary Dear Comrades, AIBOC-TAMIL NADU STATE CONFERENCE TH 26 JULY 2015 Chennai, Anna Nagar, SBOA School and Junior College was buzzing with activity since 8 am with volunteers enthusiastically reaching the venue to take positions as per their assigned role. True to the tradition of the State the occasion was used to give opportunity for SHGs to display and market their products. They were ready with their shops in respective stalls. Members have started pouring in since 9 am giving the venue a festive look. The pre-cursor programme was initiated on dot 9.30 am starting with the cultural Condt...2

2 - 2 - programme. The visually challenged showcased their talents and rendered heart touching karnatic music. The flag of AIBOC was hoisted by Dr. T.T. Ram Mohan amidst thunderous applause of members and the event was witnessed by leading luminaries of AIBOC viz. Com. Y. Sudharshan, President, Com. K. Anandakumar, Sr. VP, Com. G.V.Manimaran, Sr. VP and the State Team. The flag went up and flew high to declare the inauguration of the state conference. The Conference also show cased the ability of differently abled children who are hearing and speech impaired. As the differently abled children danced to the tunes of the songs played, eyebrows of those watching the programme went up in curiosity. Inquisitiveness of members was set at rest as one could see that the teacher who choreographed the dance was guiding their movements sitting down and the children were dancing for her movements and thus the song and dance were synchronised. The cultural programmes were sponsored by Tamil Nadu State Apex Co-operative Bank Officers' Association. Our special thanks to TNSACBOA! The Chief Guest Mr.N.Ram and Dr.T.T. 3 - 3 - India Executive Committee were received on dais by the State Team and State Women's Wing Convenor. The All India team based in Chennai consists of Com.Dr.J.D.Sharma as JGS, Com.Dr.V.Chidambara Kumar as Vice President, Com.R.Jagdeeswaran, Com.B.Srinivasan & Com.G.Vaidyanathan as DGSs and Com.A.Krishnan, Com.K.Gopish, Com.T.Muralisoudararajan and Com.J.Vanangamudi as ECMs in addition to State President Com. Thomas Franco Rajendra Dev as JGS and the undersigned State Secretary as AGS of AIBOC. Com. R.Sekaran, General Secretary of IBOA(TN & PONDY) was also on dais. Com.Dr.V. Chidambara kumar welcomed the gathering. Com. Thomas Franco gave a brief presidential address as Prof. Dr.T.T. Ram Mohan had to board the flight. The speech of Prof. Dr.T.T. Ram Mohan kept the audience mesmerised as he focussed on importance of Public sector Banks and at the same time stressing the need for lateral induction of specialist officers to cater to the present day business challenges. Com.Dr.J.D. Sharma who was recently awarded doctorate by University of Madras for his study on Post Globalisation motivational dimensions among officers of Indian Public Sector Banks was honoured in the Conference. Mr. N. Ram a strong votary of Secularism, democracy and social justice dwelt upon present day situation with new Government on helm of affairs. His incisive analysis of the events and trends in the political affairs of the country brought out his expertise and his Condt...4

4 concern on compromise of secular credentials and threats out of the same was well received Com.Y. Sudarshan gave his special address recapped the history of trade union movement in Chennai, the performance of banks and certain aspects of salary settlement before touching upon future ahead of us. He assured that the second and fourth Saturday holiday may be delayed due to bureaucratic procedural wrangles but cannot be denied. The yesteryear elders of AIIBOC of TN State Unit who have contributed for strengthening of the Officers' Trade Union Movement were honoured by leaders of various affiliates who vowed to carry their mantle foward. It was gratifying that twenty eight yester year leaders of the State Unit attended the conference and our Red Salute to them. Uma Subramanian., SBIOA Chennai Circle's Com.S.Saravanamuthu and Com.M.Balakrishnan, PNBOA's Com.K.V.Varadarajan, UBOA's (Union Bank) Com.N.Govindarajulu, Com.K.Muthiah, Com.Md.Shahbuddin, Com.BOIOA (SZ)'s Com.D.Narayanaswamy, Com.C.Aiyappan, Com.A.C.Bharathbhushan, and CBIOA's (Central Bank) Com.D.Munikanniah, Com.D.Duraisamy, DBOO's Com.C.Varadarajulu and ABOA-SBT's Com.S.R.Radhakrishnan. 5 - 5 - The prominent leaders included Com.K.Parthasarathy(former State Secretary) as well as two of the State Treasurers Com.P.V.Vasudevan and Com.M.Devendran who are contemporaries of the undersigned during the past eleven years. The function was attended by the unsung heros like Com.S.Kuppusamy of Indian Bank, General Secretary of AIIBARA (affiliated to AIBPARC) and Com.K.S.Rengarajan, former treasurer of IOBOA and now President of ARISE (affiliated to AIBPARC) who still contributes in assisting back office calculations of salary revision. 33 days indefinite strike is a history and the valiant comrades of Dhanlaxmi Bank Officers' Organisation who withstood the pressure with pleasure, not showing any sign of dismay since to deserved appreciation and the State Unit rightly honoured them all by inviting them to dais. Audience and rest of those who were on dais honoured them with standing ovation and a thunderous non-stop applause. The sound of clapping reverberated the auditorium which was akin to drum beats in army. Com. Thomas Franco continued to elaborate on his brief Presidential address made earlier. He told the audience that as per information discreetly available IBA likes to keep in pursuit their agenda of bank level settlement and cost to company approach for salary revision. He also invited attention of the Trade unions to the unwarranted remarks of new Economic Adviser on Bank Nationalisation Day that Nationalisation in 1969 was a mistake and cautioned about the tough road ahead. He recalled the role of AIBOC earlier in bringing all officers' unions in financial sector in one platform and stressed that now with Government's focus on privatisation there is a need for bringing all trade unions in one platform. 6 - 6 - report. After presentation of report the business session was postponed for lunch break. State Secretary's report highlighted the issue of external relativity vis-a-vis internal relativity and need to arrive at consensus, activating district units etc., among other issues. Simple, sumptuous lunch was provided. As the observers were leaving after open session, free distribution of NOCHI plants was made to the interested members. Thanks to Corporation of Chennai for providing the Nochi plants free which are effective mosquito repellent as mosquitoes become sterile when they come into contact with the plant. Nochi leaves are also good to reduce the swellings, sinus etc., as per naturopathy. The State Unit had also organised medical camp through Apollo Hospitals as a reminder to members on need for regular medical checkups. During the Conference, new web site of the state unit (aiboctn.org) was launched by Com. K. Anandakumar. In the business session issues like activating district units, activating and developing youngsters, collection of small levies directly from members for state units, mandatory acceptance of sabbatical applications of women, value for practical situations in disciplinary action and adherence to rules of disciplinary proceedings, regulated working hours, strike inclusion of all officers viz., EDP officers, suomotto action on adverse happening in affiliates, lease rent on certificate basis, commutation problem, regular state conferences, crech facility, promotees' fitment, CTS holidays, relationship and understanding of mutual problems by UFBU, career development programmes by State unit etc., were stressed. 7 - 7 - During the course of the interactions, Treasurer submitted the accounts to the house and the same has been adopted. In addition to State Secretary's response Com. G.V.Manimaran explained on the Regulated Working Hours. Com. Thomas Franco explained on difficulties in the matters of suomotto reactions on adverse happening on affiliates. The members who spoke during the Business session are Com. H. Padmanabhan of IOBOA, Com. Ms.C. Neema of ABOA-SBT, Com. David Vijayakumar of RRB-Pallavan, Com. J.Jeeva & Com.R. Balaji of SBIOA(CC), Com.S.Duraisamy of DBOO, Com. Ms. S.Selva Bagyamani of CBIOA(Central Bank), Com. R.Somasundram of SBOA(Syndicate Bank), Com. J. Vanagamudi of CBOA and Com. SS.Saibabu of KVBOA. As per the consensus in the delegate session the state team of President, State Secretary and Treasurer were re-elected and other officer-bearers were also elected unanimously. List of office bearers will be released shortly after getting the names of Deputy Secretaries from each affiliates. The curtains were down after the Vote of Thanks by Com. K. Bavanisankar, Treasurer, AIBOC. Our special thanks to Com.Harvinder Singh and Com.Y.Sudarshan our leaders who have ensured the fund sharing with State Units a reality, which had helped us to conduct the State Conference. Our special thanks to SBIOA volunteers under the leadership of Com.T.Senthilkumar, DGS who have made elaborate arrangements in the venue, being the school auditorium of their educational trust. Our thanks to caterer Mr.N.Thirumalai and his team. Volunteers from other banks rightly came in for various other assistances like purchases, members' registration, distribution of delegate badges and mementos, dais management, master of ceremony, hall and entrance management, SHG and medical camp management and Nochi plant distribution, etc. Our THANKS to them. Special thanks to team leaders viz. Com. Dr. V. Chidambarakumar of BOIOA, Com. K. Gopish of LVBOA, Com. S.R. Gnanasekaran of UBOA, Com. 8 - 8 - about the maiden compering of Com. Sherin S Thomas of SIBOA. The success of the Conference was due to the good wishes of all our comrades and participation by those who were present. Our BIG THANKS to all of you for your good wishes and participation, our Tamil Nadu State Conference went on successfully in grandeur and gaiety! I personally thank Com. Thomas Franco Rajendra Dev, our President, Com. K.Bavanisankar, our Treasurer and also Com. Sumathi Iyer, women's wing convenor for their team spirit, guidance & support. In spite of the best efforts, there would be omissions & commissions for which I seek your indulgence. The Conference though conducted after a gap of 11 years left an indelible imprint on the minds of the members by its grandeur and contents of the speeches of the eminent personalities.
