1 Minutes of Annual General Body Meeting 2018 Venue: Hall A, Hotel jenny s club, Coimbatore Date: Time: 5pm 6.30pm The meeting was started with Prayer. Obituary Prof Dr Sarojini Devanandan, Former HoD, CMC Vellore Dr Santhanam ISA Coimbatore Two minutues silence was observerd for the departed souls. Welcome address: Following which President Dr. P Selvakumar delivered welcome address and thanked the members for the support for the entire tenure. He mentioned that, the present office bearers were very enthusiastic and helpful in running the office very smoothly, and also mentioned that three unofficial core committee meeting was conducted periodically to run and plan the activities of Tamilnadu State office. His main agenda was to organise the bank accounts and various fixed deposits in Madurai and Tanjore. Which was done very successfully and all our deposits are under one branch. Other important agenda was getting a PAN CARD for the Tamilnadu ISA which was also done successfully, he hailed Dr Rathnakumar, Treasurer of Tamilnadu ISA for his commanding work. This year, he also mentioned that, he was happy to initiate DR SUBRAMOMNIAM MEMORIAL AWARD for the memory of Our past president and founder member of ISA KANYAKUMARI Branch. During his tenure, He was happy that one new ISA Branch was formed and to attend the Inaugural function and WFSA sponsored CME of ISA TIRUVARUR Branch at Tanjore. He also mentioned that to promote research and paper publications activities among the ISA members, Tamilnadu ISA took great effort to conduct Two day CME programme on Statistics for the Anaesthesiologists STATISA 2018 in the month of January at YERCAUD. He mentioned that copy of minutes of ABGM and Executive meeting were already uploaded in our website for every to read Minutes were accepted and passed by Dr M. Kannan, ISA Tirunelveli and Seconded by Dr Nishal Perumal, ISA Kanyakumari Secretary s Annual Report Following the State cum South zone conference held at Trichy on August, the first two core committee meetings were organised and conducted by our president Dr P. Selvakumar at Madurai and one was conducted at Yercaud. This was mainly to plan and coordinate the activities of Tamilnadu ISA. Because of these core committee meetings, we were able to shift our savings bank account and close and transfer various fixed deposits to Nager coil branch. For the First time, Tamilnadu ISA conducted a two-day workshop STATISA 2018 at yercaud to promote the research activities among the members of Tamilnadu ISA. Dr Harsoor and Dr Balabaskar were key persons along with two other statisticians conducted the programme, it was well appreciated by the delegates. Dr Sekar Michael our TNJA Editor was also one of the faculty and coordinated the programme Along with Dr J Edward Johnson, our vice president and Dr C. Rathnakumar we attended the monthly meeting of Tirunelveli ISA, we delivered lectures and honoured by Dr M. Kannan and Office bearers of Tirunelveli ISA Along with Dr P Selvakumar, we attended the Inaugural function and WFSA sponsored CME programme of ISA TIRUVARUR at Tanjore. The function was well organised by Office bearers of ISA TIRUVARUR under the guidance of Dr AL Meenakshi sundaram. As a Secretary of Tamilnadu ISA I was invited for the Simulation workshop organised by ISA TIRUVARUR and Dr AL Meenakshi sundaram, Dean, Government medical college at Tiruvarur. On the same day attended the monthly meeting of ISA TIRUVARUR AS a Secretary of Tamilnadu ISA, I was invited as a guest for the leadership summit programme conducted by GARG & Department of Anaesthesia, Ganga Hospital Coimbatore. As a Secretary, I was invited as a guest for the Annual CME programme conducted by KMCH hospital, Coimbatore Treasurer s Report Dr C Rathnakumar, Treasurer presented the statement of accounts. He submitted the accounts for the previous year along with the details of the fixed deposits held by the association. He has mentioned about closing of all the fixed deposits at Tanjore and Madurai, and were converted as a single deposit at State bank of india, Nager coil Branch. He also mentioned that we have obtained a PANCARD for Tamilnadu ISA office. Details of the income expense statements were presented and passed.

3 Treasurers Accounts were proposed by Dr.Senthilvel rajan, ISA Coimbatore Seconded by Dr.Balakrishnan, Past ISA national President, ISA Chennai. Editor s Report Dr Sekar Michael, our TNJA editor presented the activities of TNJA. He made request to send all the members and those working in teaching hospitals to send articles and case reports for the publications. Important proposals for Discussion 1.Conference fees for Non ISA members Dr Edward Johnson, suggested only Active ISA Members should be allowed to attend the conference as a delegate and also as a faculty Dr Balakrishnan, ISA Chennai suggested to follow WFSA guidance and National ISA guidelines Dr Sudharsan, ISA Coimbatore mentioned in Tirupathi South zone conference, the difference in fees is 50% for the Non ISA members Dr Selakumar ISA Madurai suggested to create an awareness and increase the membership drive in all city branches and not to punish the Non ISA members by exorbitant fees Dr Periasamy ISA Trichy suggested as per national ISA protocol the fees for non ISA members should be fixed in all the ISA sponsored programmes Dr Amudha, ISA Tirunelveli suggested the Membership should be made made mandatory for presenting free papers and posters in any conferences Dr senthilnathan ISA Coimbatore mentioned that rule is already in force Dr Muthu Krishnan, ISA Erode suggested a reasonable registration fees difference should there between non-members and members of ISA Dr Selvakumar, President suggested to have a fees difference of 20% between members and Non- ISA Members Dr Selvakumar, ISA Trichy suggested to have strong Data base for the member s directory so that in future this problem can be sorted out Dr Sudharsan, ISA Coimbatore said, the scientific committee of the conference should be in a position filter members and non-members of ISA Finally, Dr Selvakumar suggested a minimum of 20% fees difference should be there in future conferences. 2.State level Uniform consent form and Patient information booklet- Implementation

4 Dr Selvakumar, ISA Madurai suggested to follow national guidelines about ISA NATIONAL endorsed Private practitioner s forum to be followed 3.How to honour our past state presidents of Tamilnadu ISA Dr Selvakumar ISA Madurai said before this conference, the Past presidents were given free registration sofar, but this year in ISACON TAMILNADU-2018 organisers refused for the free registration. Many members said the registration for the past presidents should not be free Dr Kannan, ISA Tirunelveli, said there are only handful of past presidents in our state, and not all the Past presidents are willing to attend all state conferences. In any conference there may be 2 or 3 past presidents would be attending, and it is a privilege and honour for the organising committee. Money is not the issue here, He wondered about the attitude of the people and said this attitude of the young members must change. Dr Nishal Perumal, ISA Kanyakumari suggested the registration for any number of past presidents should be made free Dr AL Meenakhi Sundaram, endorsed Dr Kannan s view, and said as per National ISA guidelines, all the past presidents should have exempted from registration in all future Tamilnadu ISA state conferences DR Selvakumar passed the resolution regarding this and it is seconded by Dr Nishal perumal 4.Formation of Tamilnadu ISA state level directory Dr Balakrishnan, ISA Chennai suggested to renew and update the state directory of the Tamilnadu ISA Dr Selvakumar said All the district secretaries should take maximum effort to send the information about their members to the state office, so that it will be feasible to release the directory in the next state conference Dr Suresh ISA Trichy suggested to release a soft copy This proposal was seconded by Dr Nishal. 5.Venue for the next State conference Dr G.P.Kirupakaran, State secretary announced that Dr Rajasekar, ISA Kanyakumari and Dr Baskar, ISA Chennai both have given their application for conducting the next conference Many members of the floor suggested to sort it out among themselves, So Dr Muthu Krishnan ISA Erode branch negotiated between both secretaries, finally Dr Rajasekar of ISA kanya kumara withdrew his application, So the chance of conducting the state conference was awarded to ISA Chennai Branch.

5 Dr Suresh, President and Dr Ganesan, Secretary of ISA Trichy branch handed over the cheque for Rs one lakh to Dr Selvakumar, President of Tamilnadu ISA as a contribution to State ISA for conducting South zone conference at Trichy last year. 6.Rules for for BEST ISA BRANCH OF THE YEAR Dr Giridharan, ISA Chennai suggested No money should have given as prize Dr Selvakumar, said A rotation shield and citation can be given Dr Selvakumar R, ISA Madurai suggested we can follow the national ISA guidelines 7.Family Benevolent Fund Dr Sudharsan, ISA Coimbatore stressed the importance of becoming the member of ISA Family Benevolent Fund and requested all the district secretaries should take efforts to increase the membership 8.Any Other Matter Dr AL Meenakshi sundaram, of ISA Tiruvarur appealed to the General body to support his candidature for President post for National ISA in the forthcoming election. Similarly, Dr Ganesh Prabu, ISA Madurai requested the support for his candidature for the post of Governing Council Member Dr Kannan, ISA Tirunelveli said the General body of Tamilnadu ISA should give whole hearted support for these members from our state Dr Senthinathan, ISA Coimbatore requested the GB members to pass a resolution Dr selvakumar president passed the resolution regarding this and seconded by Dr Senthinathan Both Dr AL Meenakshi sundaram contesting for the post of President and Dr Ganesh Prabhu contesting for the post of Governing council member will be a Projected as a sponsored candiates of Tamilnadu for the forthcoming election Dr Al Meenakshi sundaram raised his concern, about the way the inaugural function was conducted in the morning, He told Dr Balakrishnan of ISA Chennai Should have been honoured properly, Similarly Dr Kannan and himself were honoured last, there should be some norms in honouring the Guests, many younger people were honoured before our senior most members of our state. Also during honouring function, indirectly canvassing one member for the forth coming national election was to condemned Dr selvakumar, President said the inaugural was conducted by host people Dr Sudharsan ISA Coimbatore said it was totally un intentional and list of people to be honoured were given to him at last minute and few names were added during the function Dr Sekar Michael ISA Coimbatore said strict protocol should be followed in the inaugural function with the guidance of the state office

6 Dr selva Kumar president said in future the list of people to be honoured should prepared and to be handed over to state secretary beforehand. The proposal was seconded Dr Baskar, ISA Chennai Change of office bearers Dr J Edward Johnson became president of Tamilnadu ISA for the Year as per protocol. For the Vice-President post only one nomination was received from Dr Sudharsan, ISA Coimbatore So he was selected for the post unopposed For the Editor, No nomination was received, So the current Editor Dr Sekar Michael was to continue the in post of Editor TNJA for next two years Finally, the new president Dr J Edward Johnson took over as a president for the year , from Dr selvakumar, in his acceptance speech he thanked Dr selvakumar for conducting the state office very efficiently, and assured to follow the same in the coming year. His aim is to improve the ISA membership and also convert all the inactive members to active members in the coming year and he also actively involve to bring out updated state level ISA membership directory.
