1 Name: February 6-10, 2017 The Boater Bulletin This Week s Instruction & Standards Writing: Great job with RBQs! I m so impressed with the writing pieces the students worked on! Time to begin our opinion unit! We ll begin by brainstorming and prewriting our opinion topic. By the end of the week, we ll begin drafting! (ELAGSE4W1) Math: Continuing to add and subtract mixed numbers, students will work on understanding how to convert mixed numbers to improper fractions. (MGSE4.NF.3 & 4) Social Studies: Continuing on with our New Nation unit, we ll study how the Constitution was written and the details of this important document! (S4H5a&b) Reading: Continuing on with Greek Mythology, students will apply what they ve learned about Greek myths to modern day vocabulary (e.g. Herculean strength). We ll also work on reading comprehension skills. (ELAGSE4RL4) Announcements & Reminders -Thursday is College & Career Day! Students are encouraged to dress as their future careers or their college gear! -It s the week of our Senior Buddies Service Project! Please send in a small box of chocolates (4-6 pieces) with your student. We will be making cards for seniors living at local Senior Centers. A link will be sent out if students want to sign up to deliver the chocolates and cards! Topics for Discussion -What were the Articles of Confederation? Did they work?
