Call to Order The meeting was called to order by President Bill Grove at 6:32 p.m. 2. Roll Call Members Present: Troy Arthur, Chris LaFerla, Dave Coziahr, Jill Ogg-Gress, Susan Riley, Scott Hansen and Bill Grove 3. Moment of Silence A moment of silence was observed. 4. Pledge of Allegiance 5. We are Proud of Our Schools/Introductions Employee Recognition Emily Wade, paraeducator at Rue Elementary School and Jason Huffman, Special Education Teacher at Longfellow Elementary School were honored as the December Living the Mission Employees of the Month. Marilyn Vajgert was honored as the Substitute of the Trimester. 6. Approval of Agenda BE IT RESOLVED that the Agenda be approved as presented. Student Achievement Annual Multicultural Education Report Presentation was given by Erin Schoening, IB Program Coordinator at Carter Lake Elementary School and Alexia Jackson and Noah Phillips, Carter Lake Elementary Students Report on Services for English Learners Presentation was given by Dr. Corey Vorthmann, Assistant Superintendent for Teaching & Learning, Chantelle Brandt, ELL Coordinator, Prudencia Ledesma, Rue Elementary and Wilson Middle School Parent, Julieta DeSantiago, District Interpreter and Translator and Rashelle Murray, ELL Teacher at Rue & Hoover Elementaries Report on High School Program of Studies Changes Presentation was given by Dr. Jason Plourde, Director of Secondary Education *B. *C. Informational Presentations Report on Health Services School Year Presentation was given by Tim Hamilton, Executive Director of Student & Family Services Resolutions Approval to Award Bid #16-007, LED Video Display Board for the Athletic Complex and Thomas Jefferson Marquee Replacement Board BE IT RESOLVED the Board move that bid # be awarded as follows: LED Video Display Board for the athletic complex be awarded to Daktroniks, Inc. of Brookings, South Dakota in the amount of $239,317.00, and the Thomas Jefferson Marquee Replacement Board be awarded to American Lift and Sign Service of Omaha, Nebraska, in the amount of $23, Moved by: Jill Ogg-Gress Approval of School Calendar BE IT RESOLVED the Board move to approve the proposed calendar for the school year. 3 Approval of Physical Education Waiver BE IT RESOLVED the Board move approval of the request to the Iowa Department of Education for a Chapter 12 exemption requiring year-long physical education in grades Seconded by: Scott Hansen Approval of Contract with Heartland School, Omaha NE BE IT RESOLVED the Board move to approve the contract with Heartland School as presented. Moved by: Dave Coziahr Seconded by: Scott Hansen Appointment of Board Member to Pottawattamie County Assessor s Conference Board BE IT RESOLVED the Board motion to appoint Troy Arthur as the official representative of the Council Bluffs Community School District to serve on the Pottawattamie County Assessor s Conference Board for the next term. Moved by: Jill Ogg-Gress Policy Review/Approval Approval of New Policy 804 Facilities Maintenance BE IT RESOLVED the Board move to waive the second reading and approve new policy 804 Facilities Maintenance upon first reading. Adjournment There being no further business, President Bill Grove declared the meeting adjourned at 8:05 p.m. Immediately following adjournment, the Board will hold an exempt session to conduct a strategy meeting of a public employer concerning employees covered by collective bargaining agreement, as provided in Section 20.17(3) of the Code of Iowa.
