8 OVERVIEW OF EVENT FORMATS Speed networking Meeting format designed to accelerate making new contacts. Multiple people gather in a single space for a series of short bilateral meetings. People meet each other one at a time for a short interval and then move on to the next person. During the talks, attendees can talk about their day-to-day work and exchange ideas on professional topics of interest. Case study The case study is designed to discuss practical situations in small groups. Participants are provided with a case, background reading and written questions to guide the group discussion. The case takes place in a real-life context and provides participants with the possibility of exploring problems from multiple perspectives. After the group discussions, the groups ideas will be summarised in a plenary setting. Hackathon A hackathon is an event format, popular within the tech community, where groups of people come together to collaborate intensively over a short period of time to work on specific challenges. Participants will form groups of about 2-5 individuals, that are given a specific issue to solve, and then dive into problems for a given period of time. At the end of the hackathon, each team will present the solution to their group s problem case.
