Action: The resolution was approved with following conditions: 1) The following items shall be approved by a subcommittee composed of Commissioners Bernstein and Blakeley: a. The sign shall be relocated so that it is slightly shifted to the left. b. Ground covering shall be provided (Japanese pebbles). c. Up lighting shall be added behind the monument. This lighting shall be facing toward the building not toward the back of the monument sign. the 2) Architectural Approval. Project approval is for the design-related aspects of the project only. No approval is implied or granted with regard to applicable city zoning or technical codes, which may require review and approval from other city commissions or officials. 3) Compliance with Municipal Code. An outdoor dining permit will be required. 7. Louis Vuitton 201 and 295 North Rodeo Drive Request for approval of a façade remodel for both buildings and a sign accommodation for multiple building and business identification signs (PL and PL ). 7 Architecturdl Commission Meeting Minutes Action: The Commission granted preliminary approval and wanted the following items to return for further study: Please provide additional connection details for the façade ribbons. > Please provide information on how the façade will be maintained and cleaned. > If mockups have been prepared for the façade materials, please provide either photographs of the mock-ups or bring samples to the Commission hearing. > The corner of the men s store at Wilshire Boulevard and Rodeo Drive should be reconsidered to have more of an impact on the corner. As currently proposed, it does not take the passerby into the store and is not powerful enough. > The women s store along Dayton Way should be reconsidered to enhance the pedestrian experience along this elevation. > Reconsider the number of signs on both buildings. The building is so dramatic and elegant that the number of signs proposed detracts from and clutters the design, particularly when viewed from the intersections on either side of the project. Motion 1*: Motion by Commissioner Cohen; seconded by Vice Chair Ru bins to approve the resolution for the project at 295 North Rodeo with conditions (7-0). 8 Tiara Chu and Jeffery Allsbrook Motion: Motion by Vice Chair Rubins; seconded by Commissioner Cohen to return the project for restudy (TO). Action: The project was returned for restudy. The Commission had the following comments: > The wood mullion system is not inviting and does not match the existing architecture of the building. Consider revising the design of the façade so that it makes a statement regarding the deviation from the existing architecture of the building, Additional explanation on the design is needed. > Consider recessing the storefront system approximately six inches to create a more inviting look and draw the eye into the store. > There appears to be a hierarchy between the mullion system above the door and the mullion system below the door as the vertical pattern is not consistent. > Connection details for the wood storefront system are necessary. > A subcommittee consisting of Commissioners Blakeley and Bernstein has been established to review any revised plans prepared by the applicant prior to the next Architectural Commission meeting. Please coordinate with your project planner to coordinate subcommittee review. Commissioner Bernstein left the meeting. 9. Ferrari/Maserati 9372 Wilshire Boulevard Request for approval of a façade remodel and a sign accommodation to allow multiple business identification signs (PL ). Motion: Action: Shena Rojemann, Associate Planner Vince Dyer Motion by Vice Chair Rubins; seconded by Commissioner Blakeley to approve the resolution with conditions (6-0). The resolution was approved with the following conditions: 1) Move the Ferrari and Maserati logo signs in away from the building edge an additional 6 so that they are each a minimum of 24 from the building edges. 2) Architectural Approval.
