1 MEETING OF THE NORTHVALE BOARD OF EDUCATION NORTHVALE, NEW JERSEY REGULAR MEETING MONDAY, FEBRUARY 25, 6:30 PM MEDIA CENTER AGENDA Meeting Regulations During this regular meeting, two opportunities are provided for citizens to ask questions and to make comments. During the first opportunity, early on the agenda, comments are invited. The second opportunity will occur just prior to adjournment, when residents may address general comments to the Board with time limits being at the discretion of the President. Persons wishing to speak must, upon being recognized, rise and state their name and address. The Board reserves the right to establish rules for the conduct of its meetings, including such matters as the time at which the public will be heard, if at all, who may speak, and for how long. All such rules shall be monitored by the President unless the majority of the Board present and voting, rule otherwise. Comments and questions shall be limited to issues. If personal remarks or discourteous statements are made, the presiding officer shall require speaker to sit down. APPROVAL OF MINUTES RESOLVED that the Northvale Public School District Board of Education approve the following Northvale Public School District minutes: Reorganization/Regular meeting January 28, Executive Session January 28, VI COMMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC AGENDA ITEMS ONLY Citizens are invited to make comments and are limited to five minutes, according to the Northvale Public School District Board of Education Bylaw #0167. VII REPORT OF SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS It is the recommendation of the Superintendent that the Board of Education approve: 1. Addition to Mary Archer s longevity pay beginning 23 rd consecutive year in Northvale, retroactive to September 1, Addition to Linda Salta s longevity pay beginning 23 rd consecutive year in Northvale, retroactive to September 1, Approve the testing of 25 ESL students (State requirement). Estimated cost $23.00 per student, $25.00 for processing fee, estimated total $ Approve the following class trip: a. Fifth grade trip to Buehler Science Center, Paramus. NJ b. First grade trip to Tarrytown The Music Hall c. Fourth grade trip to DeWint House, Carriage House Museum 5. Approve Martha Martin, part-time special education one-on-one aide for a Northvale student attending the Closter Pre-School. no benefits. 6. Approval of a Mount Saint Mary College student, Sarah Favata, to observe 18 hours in Ms. Dimataris 4 th grade classroom. 7. Approval of a St. Thomas Aquinas student, Christina Benaquista, to observe 30 hours in elementary and special education classes. 8. The following Fire Drill and Security Drill: Security Drill: January 25, Active Shooter Lockdown 20 minutes Fire Drill: February 12, 2 minutes VIII REPORT OF SCHOOL BUSINESS ADMINISTRATOR It is the recommendation of the Business Administrator that the Board of Education approve the following: 1. General Fund warrants: February Bill List $234, February Payroll $475, Milk Fund warrant: February Milk $ 1, Report of the Board Secretary and Report of the Treasurer for the month ending January 31, ; and Further, that in compliance with NJAC 6A: (c) 4, the Northvale School District Board of Education certifies that no major account or fund has been over-expended and that sufficient funds are available to meet the district s financial obligations for the remainder of the fiscal year. 3. Transfer of funds between budgetary line items for January. 4. The final payment request #5 to Pearl River Plumbing Heating & Electric Inc. of Pear River, NJ in the amount of $11, as per the recommendation from Energy for America, Project Manager for the Middle School (NH) Unit Ventilator Replacement. 5. Special Education Medicaid Initiative (SEMI) Program WHEREAS, NJAC 6A:23A-5.3 provides that a school district may request a waiver of compliance with respect to the district's participation in the Special Education Medicaid Initiative (SEMI) Program for the -14, and WHEREAS, the Northvale Public School District Board of Education desires to apply for this waiver due to the fact that it projects having fewer than 40 Medicaid eligible classified students and the participation in SEMI would not provide a cost benefit to the district based on the projection of the district's available SEMI reimbursement for the -14 budget year. 4

5 NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Northvale Public School District Board of Education hereby authorizes the Chief School Administrator to submit to the Executive County Superintendent of Schools in the County of Bergen an appropriate waiver of the requirements of NJAC 6A23A-5.3 for the -14 school year. 6. The contract with Realtime Information Technology, Inc.
