2 Minutes of the GreenWorks Committee Minutes of 12, 2017 Meeting The GreenWorks Committee met at 1:32 p.m. on 12, 2017 in Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce Building in Melfa, Virginia. Members Present: Marilyn Ailes, Waste Watchers - Chairman Alan Silverman, Waste Watcher - Vice Chairman Shannon Alexander - Secretary Wayne Brown, Waste Watchers Members Absent: Other: Paul Muhly, Waste Watchers, Accomack County Board of Supervisors Shelly Vallone, A-NPDC intern 1. Call to Order Chairman Ailes called the meeting to order at 1:32 p.m. 2. Minutes The minutes of the January 11, 2017 meeting were presented. Vice Chairman Silverman moved to approve the minutes of the January 11, 2017 meeting as presented. Chairman Ailes seconded the motion. The motion carried unanimously. 3. Financial Report Secretary Alexander presented on the FY 2017 Report. Vice Chairman Silverman made a motion to approve the FY 2017 Report. The motion, seconded by Mr. Brown, carried unanimously. Discussion ensued on FY 2018 budget. Chairman Ailes made a motion to approve the FY 2018 budget, as agreed upon by the Committee. Vice Chairman Silverman seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. Discussion ensued on the possibility of hiring an intern from ESCC for Waste Watchers. Chairman Ailes made a motion that Direct Collection Costs funds ($2,000) from the FY2017 GreenWorks budget be used to pay for an intern. Mr. Brown seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. 1

3 4. Staff Update Secretary Alexander presented an update that no progress has been made on a Litter Reduction Management Plan. She presented examples of possible models to follow. Discussion ensued. The presentation of the draft table of contents for the Plan will occur in next meeting. Secretary Alexander indicated that additional relevant business was discussed during the Waste Watchers of the Eastern Shore meeting that immediately proceeded the GreenWorks meeting. 5. 4 MEMORANDUM TO: GreenWorks Committee FROM: Shannon Alexander Coastal Resources Program Manager Accomack-Northampton Planning District Commission DATE: February 14, 2018 SUBJECT: FY2018 Budget & Financial Status Report FY2018 Budget GreenWorks three main budget components are: Keep America Beautiful (KAB) $ 200 A-NPDC Staff Support and Technical Assistance $3,467 Direct Collection Costs $2,000 Total $5,667 The Direct Collection Costs were broken out for the following purchases or expenditures: Media ads, promotional/educational material, membership development $ 500 Intern program development $ 1,300 Litter survey & essay contest $ 700 Staff requests the Committee review and approve the FY2018 Budget. Financial Status Report Bills Paid: December 31, 2017 DUE TO DESCRIPTION DATE AMOUNT A-NPDC Staff Support, June - Jan, Dec-2017 $1, ESCC Intern Stipend 31-Aug-2017 $1, Waste Watchers KAB Dues Reimb. 15-Aug-2017 $ Waterford Printing Outreach Materials 15-Aug-2017 $ Total Bills Paid $3, Staff requests the Committee review and approve the FY2018 Financial Status Report. 3
