4 7.1. The IFCC Committee on Congresses and Conferences (C-CC) The Committee on Congresses and Conferences was estabished in December 2007, and is the continuation of the former Congress and Conference Division (CCD) which was found in 1996, but with an expanded charter and responsibiities. The C-CC has the major administrative and manageria responsibiity within the IFCC for a meetings coordinated by the IFCC Mission statement It is the mission of the C-CC to provide genera administration and management of a IFCC meeting activities (congresses, conferences, and symposia) and to review appications for IFCC auspices from non-ifcc conferences requesting such sponsorship Strategy The C-CC supports and promotes Cinica Laboratory Sciences through congresses, conferences, speciaised meetings, and other professiona meetings. The C-CC works cosey with the organisers of the various IFCC reated conferences to ensure that they achieve organisationa and professiona exceence Projects The C-CC formuates and continuousy updates, guideines, procedures and practices for IFCC-designated meetings, and monitors compiance throughout their panning and organisationa stages. The C-CC assists the organizing groups in the administration and promotion of conferences, and heps these conferences obtain support, and achieve financia efficiency in the various economica aspects of their meetings. The C-CC reviews a existing meeting guideines every three years to ensure their continued appicabiity and wi write new guideines for those meetings not covered by existing procedures. The C-CC maintains a current 5-year isting of congresses and conferences of professiona interest to the members of the IFCC, incuding both IFCCreated conferences and those outside the IFCC. This aows members to be aware of these meetings, and aows potentia conference organisers to pan the dates of their meetings with care. The C-CC designates as officia IFCC approved meetings those conferences that conform to the requirements of the IFCC as a professiona organisation, in order to promote the fied of cinica aboratory sciences, and protect the interests of the IFCC. Within the framework of the IFCCdesignated meetings, the C-CC wi promote the IFCC and its functiona units, and discuss the possibiity of integration of IFCC units and members in the program of the conference. The C-CC assists in expanding the ist of IFCC Master Conferences on specific scientific and educationa topics and promotes the eadership roe of the IFCC in the fied of Cinica Laboratory Sciences. IFCC Speciaized Conferences IFCC-Roche Diagnostics Bergmeyer Conferences Goas and Objectives The Bergmeyer Conferences founded in 1987 are a coaborative effort of IFCC and Roche Diagnostics focused on standardisation issues. The objectives of these Conferences are: Improving the Comparabiity and Compatibiity of Laboratory Assay resuts in ife sciences Improving the Cinica Vaue of Laboratory Data Discussion of Standardisation Issues and suggesting soutions in order to achieve the first two objectives Master Discussion of Experts and a Brain Storming Forum for projects to be executed by Scientific Division's Committees or Working Groups Each Conference is devoted to a rapid deveoping new area reevant for aboratory science and cinica medicine. The scope of a Conference is to be organised in that manner that besides comprehensive review aso future trends, anaytica pitfas and the rationae, cinica use of the diagnostic procedures have to be considered. These Conferences are Master Discussions of experts in the respective topic of a Conference. Participation is ony possibe on invitation. The governing body of these Conferences is the Steering Committee consisting of IFCC (3), the editor of the proceedings (1) and Roche Diagnostics (1) representatives. 9 Terms of Reference Organisation of Bergmeyer Conferences: - seection of date and topic - responsibiity for the scientific content and seection of speakers - appointment of an ad hoc Working Group (occasionay) for the preparation of draft documents to be circuated prior to the respective Conference to the participants - review of the organisationa and financia commitments Review of documents produced in conjunction with each Conference Submission of documents to the Scientific Division for fina approva Pubication of proceedings - Appointment of editors The Proceedings are pubished in the Scandinavian Journa Coaboration with Roche Diagnostics and the oca organising group Report to Scientific Division, information to the Congress and Conference Division The Membership to be nominated by SD and approved by EB. The terms of the IFCC members are usuay 3 years; re-appointments are possibe. 10 Responsibiities The Committee on Congresses and Conferences (C-CC) of the IFCC bears overa responsibiity for the organization of the Genera Conference. The IFCC Secretary is responsibe for the Conference agenda. The IFCC Executive Board is responsibe for detaied programme content The IFCC Office wi carry out the administrative activities in preparing for the Conference in coaboration with the C-CC and a oca organizing committee from the nationa society of the country where the meeting is being hed. Time and Venue A Genera Conference is hed once during the triennia term of the Executive Board (EB) of IFCC, usuay during the second year. The EB decides on the time of the year at which to hod this Conference. The EB wi decide on the venue for the IFCC Genera Conference foowing a recommendation from the C-CC. The duration of the Genera Conference is 2 days, and is preceded by 2 days of an EB meeting and meetings of the Divisions and Committees. This period is required to enabe a the IFCC functiona units to meet individuay and coectivey. Scope Prior to the Genera Conference a IFCC functiona units carry out their own meetings, meet with their immediate and/or Divisiona supervisors, and report on the progress of their projects and on project proposas. The Division Executive Committees then meet with the EB to present the status of their Division, and to obtain consent for future and/or continuing activities. Representatives from Fu Members and Corporate Members join IFCC functiona units for the Genera Conference proper. Timetabe Foowing a Genera Conference, the C-CC wi soicit the IFCC Fu Members for a candidate society that is wiing to assist the IFCC in the organization of the next Genera Conference. The host society wi benefit by having the opportunity to interact with the members of the IFCC functiona units. The appication process wi be managed by C-CC and shoud be competed within three months of soicitation, and a recommendation made by the C-CC to the EB. The EB shoud decide on the time and venue within a further three months. The tota seection process shoud take ess than nine months. Chapter 7 - Congresses and Conferences 98

Auspices of the IFCC - Guideines and Procedures (avaiabe from Guideines for Internationa Congresses of Cinica Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (ICCCLM) (avaiabe from ) Guideines for EFCC European Congresses of Cinica Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (EuroMedLab) (avaiabe from Guideines for Regiona Congresses off Cinica Chemistry and Laboratory Medicines (RCCCLM's) Guideines for the IFCC Genera Conference Ortho-Cinica Diagnostics Conference VII Goas and Objectives: This Conference was inaugurated in 2008 with the generous support of Ortho Cinica Diagnostics. It wi be hed every two years starting in The objective of this conference is to strengthen the ink between the cinician and the cinica aboratory. Each conference wi be dedicated to a specific disease state or to a particuar medica probem. The speakers wi be internationay renowned experts in the particuar fied that is the topic of the conference. There wi be strong participation of cinicians as speakers. The attendance wi be imited to approximatey 200 persons to aow for ivey discussion. The Scientific Division is responsibe for the scientific program and it wi appoint a chair for each conference. That chair wi take advice from expert cinicians and aboratory medicine speciaists. The conference proceedings wi be pubished in the Journa, Cinica Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine.
