Prayer was offered by Reverend Thomas Wise, Valleyview Church in Dayton, Ohio, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. The journal of the last legislative day was read and approved. The following guests were recognized by the Senate prior to the commencement of business: Senator Beagle recognized Camilla Hydzik for her service to the Senate. Senator Hughes recognized Dotty and Jerry Kupsky. Senator Faber recognized Sheriff John Lenhart for being presented with the 2015 Ferris E. Lucas Award for National Sheriff of the Year. Senators Bacon, Faber, Hughes and Tavares recognized Joyce Garver Keller for her retirement as executive director of Ohio Jewish Communities. Senator Hughes recognized the Ohio State School for the Blind marching band for being selected to participate in the 2015 National Memorial Day Parade. Senators Hughes, Bacon, Jordan, Seitz and Tavares recognized The Ohio State University women's rowing team as the 2015 National Collegiate Athletic Association Champion. Senators Hughes, Bacon, Jordan and Tavares recognized The Ohio State University pistol team for winning the 2015 Pistol Intercollegiate National Championship. Senator Thomas recognized the Withrow University High School girls track and field team on winning the 2015 Division I State Co-Championship. Senators Faber, Jones, Seitz and Thomas recognized the Community Organizing Committee for its efforts to support the 2015 Major League Baseball All-Star Game. Senator Balderson recognized Kaylee Antill as a 2015 Division I State Track and Field Champion.
