2 Visa Requirements Visas are required by South African passport holders. British passport holders entitled to residence in the UK do not need visas Following the Schengen-wide introduction of biometrics, all applicants NEED TO APPEAR IN PERSON for the capturing of biometric data. Fingerprints and photo - was introduced as part of the visa application for Denmark, Iceland and the remaining Schengen area. This biometric data can only be captured at the Danish Visa Service Centres (VFS) If passenger currently possesses a valid visa without biometric data for Denmark and the Schengen area, this visa will remain valid for travels until their visa expires. A normal Schengen visa is not valid for the Faroe Islands or Greenland. However, if travelling to these destinations, a Danish Mission is to issue the Schengen visa with "Valid for the Faroe Islands"or "Valid for Greenland"' in the comments section of the visa.? Step 1 - Download the application checklist By using our user-firendly checklist you will be guided through the entire visa process - From document requirements and application forms to submitting and collecting your visa. Step 2 - Collect supporting documents and application forms Page 2 of 11

3 It is essential that you collect all of the checklist mentioned documents before presenting your application to the Danish Visa Application Centre - VFS. If all supporting documents are not presented promptly, your application upon examination may be delayed unnecessarily and a delay of more than 3 working days could result in your application being rejected. Application forms have to be complete in block letters and signed by the applicant. Step 3 - Submit your application You can now submit your visa application in person at the Danish Visa Application Centre (VFS) in Pretoria, Cape Town or Durban. You will receive a receipt, which you must bring back when you collect your visa. If the application is not complete, the applicant will be advised and requested to reappear with the required documents. Applications can be submitted 3 month before departure at the earliest, and latest 2 weeks before departure. Find us at our specialised visa service centres: The Embassy does not allow visa couriers or travel agents to hand in applications. Step 4 - Collect your visa If you have submitted a complete application package to the Visa Application Centre - VFS, the Embassy of Denmark will normally process your application in less than 15 calendar days. You will be informed when your visa is ready for collection, or alternatively it will be couriered to you if you have opted and paid for courier services. In some cases, when the Embassy is not able to process the visa as bonafide, the application will be sent to the Danish Immigration Service in Copenhagen for processing. 4 Please note, the Embassy always require you to submit your application minimum 15 calendar days before your departure in accordance with the EU Visa Codex. Throughout the country, low rolling hills provide a constant succession of attractive views; there are cool and shady forests of beech trees, extensive areas of heathland, and a beautiful lake district. Denmark is known for its excellent cycling terrain, and it also has a multitude of health resorts which are widespread throughout the country. Denmark has excellent facilities for both freshwater and saltwater angling. Seafishing tours can be arranged with local fishermen at many Danish harbours. Be daring, and go nude bathing. This is quite common at Danish seaside resorts. On many campsites, 110-volt power plugs are also available. Mains water in hotels and towns is safe to drink. There are adequate and well-equipped medical facilities, however visitors are required to pay for these services. Comprehensive health insurance is recommended. Normal social courtesies. Denmark is an egalitarian society. Some restaurants and clubs may have a dress code. The age limit for buying beer and wine in Denmark is 16. For drinks with an alcohol percentage higher than 16.5%, you must be 18 or older. Smoking is banned in public areas. Nude bathing is allowed at most beaches; if it is prohibited there will be a sign. There may be limited acceptance of debit and credit cards outside of hotels, due to controls imposed on banks. It is preferable to carry cash. Page 10 of 11

11 Duty Free: Denmark is within the European Union. If you are travelling from the UK, you are entitled to buy fragrance, skincare, cosmetics, Champagne, wine, selected spirits, fashion accessories, gifts and souvenirs - all at tax-free equivalent prices. There are no longer any allowance restrictions on these tax-free items. If you are travelling from within the EU, there is no limit on the amount or value of goods you may import, providing your goods are for personal consumption. Note: The Faroe Islands and Greenland are not part of the EU. Goods imported for commercial purposes are subject to duty and the following guideline amounts are in place to determine whether this is the case: 800 cigarettes or 400 cigarillos or 200 cigars or 1kg of tobacco. 10L of spirits over 22%, 20L of alcoholic beverages less than 22%, 90L of wine and 110L of beer. Tobacco and spirit allowances apply to travellers aged 18 and over. Beer and wine allowances apply to travellers aged 16 and over. If you are arriving from a non-eu country, the following goods may be imported into Denmark by travellers aged 17 or over without incurring customs duty: 200 cigarettes or 100 cigarillos or 50 cigars or 250g of tobacco. 4L of wine and 16L of beer and 1L of spirits over 22% or 2L of alcoholic beverages less than 22%. Other goods up to the value of kr3,250 for air and sea travellers and kr2,250 for other travellers.
