16 B Trade between Latvia and Taiwan 5 Business in Gulbene With a land area of 11,898Km2 and a population of 29,797, Gulbene region has 1333 active enterprises, 98% of those are micro and small enterprises, those have less than 49 employees and annual turnover not more than EUR 10 million With Forest sector(50%), agriculture(13%), and food and beverages(6%), 69% of Gulbene s enterprises is Agriculture; Taiwan imports more than 70% of its consumption of agricultural sector; Agriculture is the overlapping interest between Gulbene and Taiwan Goat meat, wooden products, and dried fruit are the potential export items to Taiwan

17 B Trade between Latvia and Taiwan 6 Poultry meat and goat meat Piggery and poultry industries in Latvia are very competitive, (Kekava and Balticovo); avian influenza, new city disease and African swine fever are obstacles Goat meat is a potential item for Latvia to export to China and Taiwan

18 B Trade between Latvia and Taiwan 7 Timber Export to China and Taiwan More than 1000 containers Latvian timbers, such as spruce pines and birches, are exported to China and Taiwan every year, it is feasible to add the value by primarily processed to components for furniture and construction

26 C Exchanges and cooperation 5 Cultural Exchanges Horizon 2020 is the biggest EU Research and Innovation programme ever with nearly 80 billion of funding available over 7 years (2014 to 2020) ; Taiwan government executes its own policy and creates several different funding programs to support Taiwanese researchers to participate in Horizon 2020 covering all thematic areas

27 D Conclusion Partnership between Latvia and Taiwan Taiwan, the 20 th largest trade nation and the 22 nd largest economy in the world, would like to share its development experiences to the nations shared same values such as Latvia to promote mutually beneficial relations
